what's fast fingers? i'm interested to find out exactly what's out there, not to use it, but because I want to know what i'm up against.
believe it or not
Back in 2004 I used an adapted>usb keyboard plugged into a PS2... I could easily beat a JP Shadowbind w/ provoke. ^^
What you did was open the action menu and select the JA/spell you wanted to use. If the room is clear (or can't target anything) and you know what is popping next will be what you want, hold Enter on the ability and it will repeatedly try and use the ability until something spawns or you release Enter. (I do beleive they nurfed this thou by reseting you to the action menu after a failed JA atleast on computer it does)
I don't know if that still works but if it does you could remove the .dat for Darters and use that. Just have to set say/shout/tell/party/linkshell/emote on hold and high delay. Because you can fill a log with no target spam so fast you lose all text. ^^;
I don't know if it still works thou. But it was a very effective way to claim red.
Fast Fingers is a bot program. You open FFXI, run it, select your NM (from a drop down list) and it has different ways of claiming when the mob spawns that you can choose. A few will spam your selection of macros (i.e /ja "Provoke" <t>) of your choice, and it plays a sound when the mob has popped.Originally Posted by joft
The way it works is as follows;
SE is always sending data to your PC, blah blah. Fast Fingers simply reads into memory and finds things out, like when the mob has popped. Your computer has, in it's memory, the location of any mob within 100 units or so from your character. This includes dead mobs. It has their status (dead, engaged, alive and claimed, alive and unclaimed), their position (as well as position relative to you) all in memory at all times.
So, it reads into memory. As soon as the mob array is updated with the info that any given NM has popped, it'll start spamming those macros. Some advanced programmers can have a bigger advantage by actually making their own scripts (basically all FF is), which can provoke, engage, etc.
And yes, you have the data that the mob has popped before it shows on your screen. Not much before, but the array is updated before you'll see it on your screen.
If someone is constantly claiming an NM like this, they're botting, or cheating somehow. There is no other way to get around it. But, Fafnir isn't in the Fast Fingers selection list I don't think, so they would have to have made their own script (which isn't hard) using another program. They probably have some programming knowledge, or knows someone who does.
There's nothing wrong with informing yourself with what you're up againstI clearly have done the same. It's hard to beat legitimately =\
You can.......trick to it though ._. You can spam at faf, without removing darters.Originally Posted by Almaa

FYI, you can just type Fafnir's name into the drop down list and it'll work the same way..Originally Posted by cuddles

Memlocs changed with the update, so Fast Fingers shouldn't be working anymore.
It doesn't right now, but this is an older thread. And in about a week it'll be up and running once again, so, not like this issue is going to magically dissapear.
FF also removes every mob that's not <insert mob written as your target> from the visible mob array which is tantamount to removing the .dat files. It also removes green targetable stuff (wyverns), I believe.
