Where was it announced that the PS3 had HDD space for FFXI?

One of the few reasons Xbox 360 > PS3

because the PS3 is 100% backwards compatiable for PS2 and PS1 games, which means by default since the PS3 also has HDD and internet capability that PS3 can be used to play FFXI?

But are the new versions of the PS2 HDD compatable? I remember people kicking up a fuss about that not too long ago. (And probably part of the reason Square is releasing FFXI on XB360 and not PS3...)

there are no new versions of the PS2 HDD, the new PS2 doesn't support the HDD at all.

It will also sport a slot for a detachable 2.5-inch HDD, somewhat similar to the Xbox 360's. Sony did not mention if the drive would be standard.

Just got this from Gamespot for those who haven't read it. Hope the HDD will have enough space for FFXI, I really need an upgrade to my beat up PS2. lol

Sony also unveiled the PS3's graphics chip, the RSX "Reality Synthesizer," which is based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution--some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512MB of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has more than 300 million transistors, larger than any processor commercially available today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process, with eight layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1,000 total if purchased today.

This leaves me wondering, will it be enough to make FFXi menus and entire window less bulky as it is now on PS2? Prolly the only reason I still play PC is because of enourmous menu and chat log sizes. >_<

It was more of a comment that they are releasing the missions at a frustratingly slow pace. I heard that there are supposed to be 12 chapters, and we are still on chapter 8. So far a whole lot of effort for not a lot of reward.

sports games tend to release a year prior to their title, so madden 2001 was probably released in 2000.
