Ok, maybe I was too general with my OP.
Here is the revised one.
Why do people listen to MODERN rap?![]()

Revising your question again:
Why do people listen to the radio? Any station/genre for that matter.
Some radio rap has at least some musical merit, Dr. Dre is still an amazing producer, just like Linkin Park has reasonable music, but the nigga-nigga-white-bitches lyrics of most rap songs are no better than the bitch-moan-i'm-a-geek-and-nobody-loves-me crap in most alternaloser rock.
Once all is said and done, The Beatles > All.
Oh and FF6 > All too, just so this thread can go off on a tangent.

I don't think I like country music, based on my limited exposure to country at bars, on TV, wherever, but I sure as hell wouldn't publicly condemn an entire genre as not being music when I know shit about it.
I think the problem with modern rap is the image. All this "bling bling" is going to rappers heads, literally. Why the fuck do you need a platinum, blinged out grill, and for god sakes, wear some clothes that actually fits you. I'm not going to lie, I like some rap, and by some I mean a very limited amount, but the image that is associated with the genre is ridiculous, it makes it a fucking joke.

That's another.
And I don't condemn rap music for not knowing shit about it, hell, I even TRIED to appreciate it, thinking it might be an aquired taste, but it always made me cringe and want me to toss the headphones away. It's not music, it's lyrics only.
I mean common, a single beat in loop can only go so far !
I do appreciate the lyrics and it's good in most cases, but since it's singed over a synthesizer loopback, it kinda ruins it.
In my book, music involves instruments, and skill to play those instruments to form a harmony, not an incessant beat.
But yeah, not all raps are stereotyped like that, there are a very few rare songs that I appreciated, namely the stuff linkin park did (if that even counts as rap/hip-hop), and a french group in quebec. (Mano)
But hey, what do I know, here I am listening at Vesperian Sorrow and couldn't care less.
If this was mostly black/spanish forum and someone asked why do people listen to country music?.. the replay would be...who gives fuck and why the hell would you ask a dumb ass question like that..![]()
Now i find that intresting.![]()
If you don't like rap thats just you.. like whatever you want but am sure you don't like other kinds of music just that the #1 album is most likley always a rap album... if this makes you jeuolus or something or you feal they don't deserve shit cause they lazy assholes who just talk over a beat, you are someone who will always put others down when you wish you had the same.
If it bothers you a black guy is #1, hell thats not something i care about nor need to talk about seeing this is about the music and not people im asuming. If you don't like something and somebody else does what the fuck has that got to do with you?![]()
Think about all the things you find weird... for 1 my granma eats bourcht i hope i spelled it right.. she eats that and cottege cheese..both nasty but even worse she outs them together>.> i think it looks sick and probally tastes like vomit but hey she likes it alot.. who am i to juge her or say why the fuck would you eat that it looks like puke...cause everybody likes what they like..which i thought was common sense till now..![]()
damnit enitsu you're not black, you're hispanic.
I seriously hope your post wasn't directed at me, because otherwise your injustly calling me a racist (where did I ever mention any skin color??), among other things.Originally Posted by Onizuka

(However, interesting fact is I have yet to see any black person part of a metal band)
Oh, I have! Some german metal band has a black bass player.
But yea, I don't hate rap because of skin colour or anything. It's just talentless and overall pointless (remember, we are talking about MODERN rap)

IT WOULD BE A HOE_DOWN.
Is it just me or is this a 4 page long music-related(if you call rap "music") thread that Amarok hasn't replied to yet ?

No, I don't go to clubs. I go to bars and listen to some talented people play music with a meaning, pick up some hot goth chicks (jp...youre here somewhere o_o), and have a good time. All this without hearing the same bass line for 4 minutes and the same words being 'talked'Orfeo, you have never been to a club before have you...

PS: Amarok hasent replied cause he doesn't like rap and wont say so cause he'll hurt my fealings![]()
I go to clubs and raves a lot, and although I'm not the largest fan of trance or techno, it's defimetly much better to dance to than rap.
If you've still got a problem with me, I suggest you check your PMs on my forums boards. No need to publicize any more drama than random unnamed idiots do on their own.Originally Posted by zelvious
Back on topic, how does one dance to rap? You step to one side and put your heels together, then step to the other side and do the same. Raving on the other hand.. unless you totally suck at it (like myself), it's completely random. There is no ryme or rythm to it at all. It's totally mesmerizing.
yea i agree lol. Even though I don't like rap, i have to admit that sometimes there might be a good song that you can bob your head to, but that's about it.Originally Posted by Totien
