If you did, you would have respect for someone who is trying to bring a part of themselves to anyone who will listen.
Ill give you one thing. The radio has sucked forever, and the horrible degrading recycled crap that most hip pop artists are putting out is not even the surface of what hip hop is. You will never hear good hip hop on the radio. Who can relate to having millions of dollars, and getting drunk everynight with a random woman? No one i know. Hip hop, like all music is relative. If youre not a thug, a gangster, youre not going to appreciate the mainstream. If you appreciate some intallect, and deep metaphors, powerful messages about important social issues, you can relate to more of the underground.
For those of you that are coming in here and saying "rap sucks" "rap = crap" and other cliches, what music do you listen too? Im sure i can jump in and say youre music sucks without giving any reason.
As for "talking over a beat", you astound me. Thats like saying playing guitar is pulling a string. Or painting a masterpiece is moving a paint brush. Until youve experienced a deeper form of hip hip, other than the shitty pop music on the radio, dont come here with your ignorance.
