Bitch about the Vrtra thing all you want, you have to realize though that this is somewhat of a method of eliminating the vast abundance of cash throughout FFXI in general (even if it IS only temporary, ie. Sea gods, if they get implemented, drop it).

Well I look at it a different way. I think it is stupid that each job has to go through different degrees of difficulty to get their 'best' armor. Every WHM I see has a noble's tunic because Kirin is easy and is popable. Seems unfair to BRD's that their best armor is so limited in quantity. You could kill Vrtra every single time it pops, but that would still leave most BRD's without any chance to have it.

I never liked this staggered release of armor. They should have just had one patch that introduced every job's new JSE and all ways to obtain them should be of equal difficulty.

how would all of you linkshells that have camped e.bodies, m.bodies, a.bodies from fafnir, nidhogg, aspid feel if all of a sudden they made genbu drop them? yeah that's how people that have killed vrtra feel about this only its twice as bad because vrtra is actually a difficult fight. oh well, i guess at least we're safe on big kills since nobody else is ever going to kill vrtra now

Small correction, not everyone can get it. Only a highlevel Clothcrafter can actually Desynthesize the item. Also, you have to get 8million, and actually succeed in the desynthesis - which (in general terms) is not easy whatsoever. Unlike ordinary Synthesis, which can easily be determined usually by skill, day, moon, etc., Desynthesis is a total mystery. Example: I get frequent HQ2/3 from desynthsizing Gigas Socks into Wool Thread, I usually get 6-8 thread/desynth. Now, if you take Goblin Armor into Cotton Thread, or Yagudo Necklaces into Grass thread, I have a significantly lower HQ rate on that desynthesis. Why? I don't have a freakin clue. The Grass thread caps off at level 1, I'm level 52, it's not like there's a levelgap issue. The Wool thread is significantly higher and closer (reasonably) to my actual skill level than the other two, so there really is no justifiable answer.

Also, I've heard reports (albeit unconfirmed), that the success rate is like 1/6 or something >.> <-- EDITED, didn't say what I actually meant

Personal Thoughts:

I don't entirely agree with the fact it can be acquired like this, if it were through ENM, BCNM, or KSNM, I think it'd be a bit more fulfilling towards what the actual item is used for. Such as V.Claws now KS'able, does that mean the price dropped? Fuck no, infact I think it nearly tripled on Fairy when the occured awhile ago. Also, Astral Rings are BCNM-able, and their price has literally gone up 5 times what they used to (old being 200k, current: 1mil).

As per people wanting things like a spawned Nidhogg, I believe there's a good reason for that: The excessive botting, packet sniffing, and the non-existant latency issue between the JP and NA we all know is bullshit I guess you can assume that (from my understanding of general complaints @ HNM camps), an NA getting the pull on an HNM (NQ or HQ) is like trying to HQ cursed gear, just bloody low =\ If you consistently lose at something, especially when those involved are doing it illegaly and SE still refuses to see their problems (refers to F rating from the BBB), discouragement sets in, and people quit.

So, now take into that factor of people quitting, firsthand it might not seem like much, but let's throw in the wrench of it being a close friend (or group) of yours. Circumstances always seem to differ when they affect our own person, especially in a case like that >.> Hence why a suggestion of having some of those Abjurations that hardly see NA daylight become acquisitioned via BCNM/KS seems like a plausible idea.



For those who want the short version: People suggest a popped Nidhogg because they're sick of being screwed when they honestly try, so a general idea of putting Abjurations and other things those HNMs drop, into something force-popped, or KS/BCNM/ENM-style, can help ease tensions.

I'm pretty sure they will add some new drops from the dragons that will all probably be rare/ex, maybe they are waiting for sea gods to add a new set of abjurations.

Only thing I can say about balance is the difference between WHM body armor and BRD body armor. Blessed and Noble is easy to get. BRD JSE isn't. Fine make a BRD have to work for a good piece of JSE, give them a decent alternative, but at least don't stick them with errant body since they can't get anything good if their ls isn't perfect.
