Last time I checked I wasn't refering to EXP PT mobs. Think of it this way. RNG will have to stay back just like BLM does.

this is true but then they recognized people could tank as ninja and added all the enmity+ gear etc to let them tank more effectively.Ninja's weren't meant to be tanks in the first place.

Yes, I thought about that too, that some NIN JSE has Enmity, but than look at SAM, AF has Enmity. I'm not trying to defend SE's choice on doing this to Utsu, but than again this is a game that doesn't have published guides or manuals in regards of how to play it and according to SE's reps they want /us/ to figure out how it was meant to be played. If they are doing this to Utsu, than it only means SE wants us to get a hint that NIN's aren't tanks.![]()

if you have to stand out of melee range for effective range attack damage, you can't open SC for Sneak+Trick WS.
stand at optimal range, Slug for 1k, mob rushes to you, tank and Trick partner run around like idiots no SC.
and when you do Arrow Burn PTs how do you stay in optimal range? you think you can still chain 10+ if once a mob is up to your face your shots and WS do half damage?
i'm not saying it will be this bad but it's possible.
Why are you assuming that you must be farther to deal more dmg? We don't know exactly what SE is implementing yet...so.. ya..Soon, the distance of the monster from the player will determine the damage and accuracy of ranged attacks.
thats what crimson legs and flee are for, duh >_>Originally Posted by layoneil
Theyre saying that the damage and the acc is gonna vary from weapon to weapon.
So it could be that guns do a lot of damage close up and bows do more damage the further back they are.
Just a random thought.
Ya I thought about that too. If you look at weapons in real life, Crossbows always had shorter range than Bows or Guns.
Final Fantasy XI
Why the fuck does SE have the need to associate this game with real life....I fucking hate them..time to send out my 1000 hate mail.
It will probably end up like this:
CLOSER: More accurate, less damage
FURTHER: Less accurate, more damage (velocity I guess would increase the damage?)
So..... I feel sorry for all the Mithra RNGs out there.![]()
Why?
If the accuracy up close is increased this will make thf/rng even better :D TP gain will be insanely fast. Gaining ranged skillups will also be a hell of alot better.

if one weapon's optimal range is up close, than to vary, every other weapon has to be far.
the questions are
- how far?
- how much of a difference is being at a non-optimal range?
if the answer to both of those is not much, than this patch like many others don't really matter. but if it's a big difference it will definitely knock RNGs down a few notches from where they are now.
Personally I thought from Lv12 to 75 that this was implemented on Utsusemi already. I don't care, I don't lose hate now and I won't lose hate even after this is implemented. So eh, whatever, no big deal.
The RNG thing might be kinda cool once it gets figured out. Some RNG are iffy with hate and still dealing damage. A smart ranger might know where to shoot to do the right amount of damage to deal the most damage he can without taking hate now. It could actually be used very well after testing.
If you get shot from 2 feet away or 50 feet away you're just as dead if it hits something vital. (That's why I always sub Ninja in real life and keep up my shdows.)
I don't understand. Because you THOUGHT it was already implemented and you didn't lose hate, it won't change when it IS implemented? O.o I guess it could be taken as you already compensated for the thought of it, but when it's actually implemented, who knows what the ratio for shadow : Hate lost will be..Originally Posted by Ankiseth
This sounds like San might be implemented? more reason to not lose hate from getting hit from mobs. I'm assuming more emnity loss with damage taken, than a shadow. so Keep up blinks whole battle and it will be fine. Oh and means start spamming those Fuma Shuriken that costs a bajillion gil to keep hate~
now rng gets to pay for ammo yet still only do as much dmg as all the other melee DD's....SE ftw
