Yes. Enmity lost per hit is partially based on the amount of HP you lose divided by your max HP. As far as I've been told, and from what I've seen tanking, that seems to be the case.
Yeah, I wear like almost all HP+ (finally got Gigant mantle), but I mainly do it just to live longer, since VIT+ is sort of pointless on gods where they'll never really hit you for the minimum damage (VIT lowers the damage cap), however I might use VIT+ on stuff like Fafnir since he doesn't really hit very hard and hits the mimimum pretty often. I don't believe more HP+ helps with hate much more so than wearing all my valor shit and warwolf belt etc., it's just better to live longer.
I don't believe % of damage done vs. your overall HP effects hate loss...I've had Kirin do 10+ Great Whirlwinds/Sandstorms on me in a row while straight tanking him, all for over 700 damage, some for more than a thousand, while WHMs just sat there spamming Cure V on me and I never lost hate. This is while RNGs/BLMs are nuking him, mind you. So I don't think the overall % of your HP is a factor. How hard they're hitting, sure, Fafnir critting you for 400 is more likely to drop your hate than his normal hits for 140ish or whatever. Like previous poster said you're just boosting HP so HNM bullshit is less likely to 'one-shot' you (like when Seiryu pulls three Fang Rushes out of his ass in a row or Byakko does a Street Fighter combo into weaponskill on you or when Fafnir terrorizes you, Hurricane Wings, then crits, blah blah etc etc).
From memory, Koenig Shield, full WAR AF (would replace pants with AF2 piece should I get them), Warwolf Belt, Harmonia Torque, Mermaid/Hercules Ring. Capped enmity merits also, not sure I'm forgetting anything. Hey, at least I'll get to drop some of it if blinktanks suck soon D: I carry too much gear around already.Im curious to know what gear setup you switch to when you voke?
My drk, rng might actually be as worthless as the rest of us-Good Thing
My nin, Keeping hate as nin isent easy seing your trying to stay alive aswell, now it's even harder-Bad Thing
The fact i quit FFXI.....don't get to enjoy seeing all the 7231473469831748934 rngs that lvled it cause it was l337 suffer. But i also wouldn't have to tank with this BS shadow emnity shit so it's a win lose i guess![]()
i never would have even bothered lvl'ing rng except to do my promy's. ranger and most other melee jobs are to boring to me proably the ADHD but i just can't stand sitting there just shooting an arrow at something constantly. and i see the potential for less hate on mages to but it'll gimp them a little with /nin when a tank would lose hate it hits shadow of mage and lowers enmity could be useful considering i've seen a mage die in 3 hits.
Wonder if hate loss affects blink as well?
That would be rather nice for the mages.
For RNG, only issue I see would be changing their dynamic in parties when it comes to chaining WS. I haven't seen the point of RNG sitting on top of the mob and meleeing while fighting, other than doing WS; it has as much point as having a blm meleeing rather than standing at a distance and nuking.
It's also nice to see that an element of skill will have to be interjected into a job that for the most part requires the least amount of skill in the game.
I'm not saying all RNG are unskilled or stupid players. Aside from pulling(which one of the trickiest things to do in the entire game), most of a ranger's function is to shoot arrows/bolts/bullets and kill the enemy, without getting killed. I've had more than a few RNG refuse to pull, and significant number of RNG tend to simply melee, while occasionally shooting arrows at the mob.
This will require RNG to actually think about how to place themselves where they won't get aggro; what range they have to be with what weapon, etc. It will probably mean that some conventional leveling places will no longer be suited towards them(such as KRT for endgame) due to the space they will need.
As for NIN....may not affect XP parties all that much, especially if a set amount of hate is lost per blink.
However, it is possible that it will make the use of THF or (/THF post 60) manditory with a NIN tank... which benefits THF as well.
As someone said earlier, its going to be fun to see what cock-ups happen on gods with the changes.
