It wasnt a speed hack -- .--;;

It was a glitch in alot of the so called ram doubler programs 2 years ago that didnt agree with POL/FFXI. Alot of people didnt even know they were in the wrong.

For a while my PC's clock was running faster than normal. The clock was running about 5-10 minutes fast every 60 minutes or so. When it was happening my character would run ever so slightly faster than everyone else ... nowhere as fast as striders, but on a long stretch I could outrun people. I never figured out what caused it to happen, but eventually it stopped.

So, obviously, movement is controlled by the client and not the server. This is a stupendously dumb decision on the part of the designers. I suppose it made it easier to code, but you should never trust the client, for it is in the hands of the enemy...

The cat's really out of the bag now. Hopefully SE will be able to fix things before it all goes down the tubes.
