I quit complaing about SE's complete lack of attention to RDMs because basically we are just fine as is.

Who cares if they make Fast Cast gear that RDM can't wear, if a job that can wear it puts it on just to equal RDM casting time, they just sacrificed equipment in that slot that will actually help them land spells and effectively play their job. Still it does have INT in the Foot slot, which as mages know is a rarity...and I'd be pissed off if I wasn't a Mithra because our RSE2 has +4 INT in the foot slot.

So yea, ita a slap in the face to say the least, but we're fine.

The Aureole Ranged equip is an even bigger slap. It gives over half the MACC in all the RDM JSE combined lol, now available to all jobs...haha

To whoever said MACC is crap, it is crap when its only in the body peice at the tune of +5 etc. But when its ammo, depending on how much INT or MND you have over 100, MACC +8 is = to +14~15 INT and MND as far as Magical Accuracy is concerned. The best equip in my mind right now is Phantom tathlum which is INT +2.....

    For those level 55 +stat or +HP/MP earrings (like Waetoto +2STR +1VIT)
those were introduced last patch. They're from the same race ENM in Mine Shaft #2716 and they are all race specific. Example, waetoto is taru onry.

The drop rate is really shitty too. Out of 10+ attempts with a set group of nin thf blm tarus, we've only gotten one waetoto and one morukaka.

Waetoto owns though, i got it :D

No matter what equip they give to another job, they will never be able to make that job match the versatility of a Red Mage.
It all goes back to the same argument- "STFU Red Mage, you have Refresh". If Square took away refresh from Red Mages, would the job be necessary? OK, we have the highest enfeebling skill in the game, look at how useful it is for Sleepga in Dynamis. Oh wait, Black Mages do that because they have Sleepga II. Well, Red Mages are so versatile that they can use their other skills, like nuking. Oh wait, our nukes blow outside of magic bursts. At least we have Chainspell Stun.

Honestly, what versatility do Red Mages have in end game? Other than a few times where I trained Courses to the zone, every HNM battle is exactly the same. And before anyone jumps down my throat with the whole "but every job is like that", remember this is about Red Mages' versatility.

Oh wow, we can kill mobs solo. In 10 minutes I can kill a mob for 60 XP, we must be a broken job. Too bad the THF/NIN over there killed 3 of the same mobs in the same amount of time. But Red Mages can nuke Very Tough mobs to death. Oh wait, Black Mages can do the same thing in less than half the time thanks to their larger spell list, greater elemental skill, and superior clear mind.

I see people whining on every RDM forum today. We also get access to another Joyeuse, true it's only D34 but it's also STR+7... Plus we can equip the new black-belt type item with +6Haste and +atk, what the hell else do you want?
I want something to be unique to Red Mage and stay that way. I want to know that I spent all this time leveling for just a morsel more that "Refresh plz" and hand-me-down spells. I want to be that Jack-Of-All-Trades that everyone keeps trying to convince me that I am, because I sure as hell don't see it.

Where the hell is Joft when you need him?

Rdm is the jack of all trades because they can do a bit of anything. However FFXI is a game of specialization, being able to do everything doesn't matter when 5 other people can do it better. Look at Drg, they can do a bit of everything for melees, DD, gain TP fast, heal with /whm, etc, however in a game of specialization versatility does nothing, unless solo.

However -because- of Refresh, those skills can be utilized as well. W/o refresh there's not much room in an alliance for a character that can't do everything perfectly. However if you mix it all together that turns into specialization of its own.

If you want to be good at anything then I am going to laugh at you.

You want to nuke on par with BLMs? You want to melee on par with NINs? Are you kidding me? Why wouldn't everyone be a RDM if it was your perfect world where you could do all these things?

A Jack-of-All Trades means you know a little about a lot. The focused jobs *should* do more than what RDMs do, because they know a lot about a little.

RDM is easily replaced by a BRD. There is only one situation as to where RDM would take a priority, and that is in an instance where you need to have people refreshed, but due to extreme lack of room (ie. Dragon's Aery while fighting Fafnir, that shit's cramped o.O), it would be ludicrously hard to set up a BRD in line with a PLD and other mages so the melee don't get Ballad I/II.

Yes, we're screwed. What's more a slap in the face, even though we can skyrocket our Enfeebling Magic to unfathomable tiers - A FUCKING NINJA CAN STILL OUT DEBUFF US.

    Please, rot in hell SE.

    1) Two words of "easily replaced" make a difference. People will take a BRD over a RDM in exp ANY given fucking day.

    2) The End Game reason is the one I stated, there is no other reason. Oh yeah, Chainspell Stun, we get to look fucking cool for a whopping 30 seconds. They call a SMN a one-hit-wonder >.>

At least provide a reason if you're going to call me a dumbass Seriously, I could've missed a point, but without a reason you just made a silly statement.

We all know bards are plentiful, right? So many that red mages can't find a spot in HNM alliances anymore.

In HNM, yes RDM are a 1 trick pony. Refresh, Cure, and waste MP on enfeebles that don't land.

But, all jobs fell inadequate at HNM to some degree. That's the point. BLMs will land Aeroga III for 46 damage, SMNs will BP for 67 damage. MNKs will be crying out for PT invites at 7 Boost etc. That's really SE's design of end game play.

It creates demand for the creme de le creme of items, so players can play at the upper echelons of the game and actually make a dent in these fights.

In fact, I think we'd want it this way. It would be no fun if even half the stuff we threw at HNMs actually landed, which makes the time it does land that much more special.

As far as having a B-list spell list of White and Black magic, I think it is balanced by the fact that we have black AND white magic and that gives us freedom to sub /NIN. What other job can do that and not sacrifice something the ability to Cure itself or control the mob in solo gameplay? none.

    1) Bard
    2) WHM
    3) Worthless, no really, it is. Unless it makes a dramatic proven difference to Haste, it's worthless except TO us (Stoneskin/Phalanx).
    4) Madrigal, not to mention Endgame you shouldn't have too many issues trying to hit things.

BRD also sucks in fights that are kited, since it's hard to land Ballads and Minuets blah blah on moving PCs.

Ok I'm just going to say that RDM got so super enhanced from this update and now we're just so badass that we own you all, just to make you all shut the hell up. Last fucking thing I want to hear is a damn arguement about how a job isn't royally shafted when half the people who post about it don't have it leveled past 1.

    1) Any job excluding RNG, BLM, PLD, and NIN are easily replaced.

    2) Heh, think your end game is bad? The majority of the players on this game are melees and thus the majority of players on this game do one ws then disband.
