you may be a gay company if:

you release like 30 expansions that are downloadable and are like 50 megs of awsome color changed content.

    (All Right!)

You might also be a gay company if:

You release expansions and don't finish them until a year later.

10-11 months now? And the expansion isn't even finished yet so even if new dynamis / the rest of CoP endgame comes in next patch, it'll be past the 1-year mark.

more or so that, but as much as we want everything to be released from the get go, it's impossible for them to do such a thing marketing wise. I mean, they can but people will rush into stuff and sooner or later there won't be anything to do and there won't anything to look foward to.

That's why timesinks need to be cleverly designed to make content last a long time without making players feel like they're being artificially blocked from progressing. That's also why it's important for enough content to be released to support the number of people who will want to do it. When those two things are done in a timely manner you end up with quality content that will keep people busy for months.

In retrospect it's easy to say "Well now that CoP Missions are complete, they were well worth it (both the storyline and reward)." But when you're waiting month after month, getting only a small tidbit every patch, it's hard to feel like you're getting anything at all. I would rather see nothing for a long time, then get large chunks of content than see it released one small piece at a time.

Now, word is that SE started development on the next expansion about the same time CoP was released. Now, if the next expansion is going to end up coming out right after they finish implementing the rest of CoP endgame, I honestly wouldn't mind if the new expansion's endgame isn't 100% implemented right away. That doesn't mean we should be waiting another year though. Hopefully SE learned from its mistakes with CoP and the next expansion will be even better and fully implemented in a much shorter period of time (six to nine months between completed, major endgame additions is a reasonable amount of time).
