About the "Using a Ridill is like being a lvl 62" comment: If you've got a super low lvl weapon (like my 0 scythe when they let BLM use it) and you go fight lvl 40ish or whatever mobs, guess what? You hit. Pretty damn often too. Lot more than a lvl 1 would. Point is there's got to be some hidden accuracy stat that lets you hit things based solely on your lvl. This may have something to do with the DEX affects ACC argument, but that shit has been beat to death. So I say a hidden acc stat, in which case your gimped D weapon is still hitting VTs because you have some natural acc to add to it. Also explains the apparent difference in accuracy between races, especially at lower lvls before acc+ gear.

When I first got my Francisca, I finally decided I'd start skilling up axe.
It was at ZERO.

Me and my friend Gekiganger went out to fish for some Angel skin and I just pulled out 2 darksteel axes and started to skill up on those mobs. The fished up mobs were ranging from DC-T. Thats Level 58-62 mobs. I was using a weapon at ZERO. I was still hitting more often then expected, and I wasn't hitting for 0 dmg.

Please go out and try it yourself before you start flaming it. Oh yeah and the "omfjgorz bring a sword to dec wep camp?! LAWLZ." Even if it were a rating equal to a level 62, you should still have enough acc gear to make up for it without sacrificing excess str and attack gear.

I'm well aware of this. Nynja turned it into a thread about how ridil is or isn't good for thief, and I was just giving examples of how it can be made into a very good weapon. Notice I said that even without the merits/torque you can still have a good hit rate?

I believe Nynja's claim was that there are better weapons to offhand then Ridill...

About "hidden" accuracy stats, they don't exist. Studio gobli has drilled accuracy into the ground since they started, there is nothing unknown about accuracy.

"a THF can't damage a WAR." Is eronous. In Ballista, thf kicks war asses.

If you were a warrior with better sword rating, you'd probably be doing like 40-60 a hit with ridill. But since thief's rating isn't as high, you get like 25-40, or whatever. Someone can bring more concrete numbers. Discuss.

Actually you might do slightly more pending base stats+equipment stats. RDM has the same exact rating as WAR, and on 200+ skillup mobs (ranging from T-IT) I can get hits like that. Now granted, not NEARLY as often as a WAR could by default, and I have to have def lowering debuffs on it, but point still stands. Better range might be 50-70

I've PT'd with Lujan at Aura Statues (Ulli camp) on my MNK, lemme tell you, for someone eating meat he didn't have a problem hitting at all, and he hit HARD and FAST. Not to mention he was the main tank as well, it was a damn good PT till some JP fags decided to hog Ulli room killing all the mobs there.
