My stoneskin absorbes 341 damage with 81 enhancing skill and 150 MND.
Gogo MNK/WHM chi blaster power!!
looks like Stoneskin caps at 350...
It doesn't, however all the Stoneskin Calculators cap it at 350 for some reason.
I was screwing around one day with Cactuars solo, using Goblin Mushpots and max MND gear (even casting with Wand to boost it even farther) and was able to take a minimum of 520 from 1000 Needles once. Yeah I had Phalanx up but it's like a max of 35 probably, it clearly goes over 350.
And as for earlier in the thread, I use 2 macros for all enfeebles... I have one that sets up skill or MND/INT for my head/body/neck slot so it's not like I run out of macro room. Doesn't matter if the 5 MND/INT comes from a Tamas Ring or a Aqua/Snow in that slot, 5 MND is 5 MND.
lol, I'm glad I didn't know, this has brought up some interesting things.
A bit off topic but I always wonder why they decided to have X be ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND + 20 instead of just ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND and change the inequalities for ranges.F1: ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND when X < 100
F2: {([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND} * 2 - 60 when X = 100 - 150
F3: {([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND} * 3 - 190 when X > 150
"X" is calculated by
X = ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND + 20
It would instead be:
F1: ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND when X < 80
F2: {([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND} * 2 - 60 when X = 80 - 130
F3: {([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND} * 3 - 190 when X > 130
"X" is calculated by
X = ([Enhancing Magic Skill] / 3) + MND
Anyway, has anyone ever tried seeing if stoneskin does go over 350 by having someone else tank a cactuar til it does 1000 needles (and the person testing is not using phalanx or any other damage reducing gear)?
Edit: I mean the above question to test the exact amount it can exceed 350 since Raineer's experience suggests that it does. My 65RDM does not have nearly enough access to MND gear to try it myself.![]()
Back on topic tho... Savage Blade is based on MND and STR Sept, take that into account for your solo endeavors.
I remember Amarok mentioned Curtis(Taru) broke a 1k Savage, I'm curious what gear was he using at the time. My personal highest on an EP was 520ish with low 200%TP as RDM, I've yet to try it as PLD.![]()
Savage Blade sucks and should only be used if you do not have access to a good weapon skill. (Vorpal Blade or Evisceration)Originally Posted by Hirronimus
I think my personal high for Savage Blade is in the 700 range, and that is with 300% TP. At 100% TP Evisceration easily does 500+ damage and Vorpal Blade will do 600+ damage on most things EP and lower. Half the time you are better off to use Spirits Within than Savage Blade on things DC or higher.
Maybe one of these days I will experiment with gear set ups to try to maximize Savage Blade, but unless it shows a huge number change it will not change my opinion of it as trash.
Spirits is only good if you have high enough HP tho, so you'd have to sacrifice some MP gear for HP. Highest I could get my HP as RDM/DRK was around 1400+ with some, but not all, HP items. Your MP pool takes a beating for that.
Question: What does Vorpal Blade depends on? Which stat?
I think Vorpal is dependant on STR and attack, but even with pittaly melee gear it will easily out-class any other Sword WS on mobs you can hit reliably. (Too bad you can only use it when you sub WAR, DRK, or PLD.)
Vorpal is also a Crit WS so it's good if you have some DEX or Crit+ merits or are using a Dissector. At 300 I can bust out some pretty good Vorpals as NIN/WAR if I get the crits to proc in there.
Breaking 1k Savage on a EP/aggro mob is not hard. My setup to do it has been Martial Anelace mainhanded (mostly for the D:39 as well as TP bonus.)
For rings use 2xaqua (10MND,4STR) and in every other slot possible use +MND where you won't trade out STR (i.e. don't use errant). I know STR is supposed to be an equal modifier but to me it's just easier to find MND and I swear that it has a higher impact on Savage's damage.
My personal high was 1250-1280 done many many times on many different lvl 55ish mobs, mostly NM placeholders.
