Just like sports in High School. The freshmen get treated like sh*t until they can prove that they belong there. You know what, sports are "just a game" too. HNM scene: new HNM LS will be treated like the freshmen until they get that big kill. Sitting around in a camp trying to claim something is like sitting on the bench just waiting for your chance, once you get that claim, that chance to prove yourself, and you do it... it's like nothing else. For some people that is as good as any high you could get.

except...we're playing a videogame, which as you so readily pointed out isn't part of real day to day events, so you have to assume at least 50% of the population is still in highschool because they have the freetime to play.

But I don't know why people are arguing against the "just a game" thing. If people would just admit it and get over it things would be much easier. Nobody's bashing anyone for playing, because pretty much everyone here plays FFXI, but some people are holding onto a concept that this is more than a game for God knows what reasons.

And for the record, I do think "it's just a game" argument is a crappy response to justify people's bad or dishonest actions. It is fitting, however, when people are busting blood vessles in their eyes and hardcore stressing out over in-game things they have no control over or acting like FFX I is a way of life. It's not...Chill out, have fun, dance like nobody's watching, whatever.
