I guess i'm a bit spoiled by my group.
I've only got blm (60), smn, whm 75
Minidragon has RDM, NIN, DRK, THF, SAM, MNK, RNG at 75
Wins has WAR, BLM, DRK, NIN at 75
We've done the battle about 15 times. Gotten 2 of the +STR, +VIT earring but nothing else to show for it. We're going to keep going till we have both but that could take years!
Mini basically solo's the Mithra with Shuriken
Wins basically solos the Galka though Banishga II, Banish 2, and Firaga with Shaman's Cloak, Moldavite, other INT gear makes my spells ok on the Galka. Flash and Stun help out big with that guy too.
Past that it's no big thing. If the Warrior can get a decent damage super low delay throwing weapon, the mithra can go down quick. She just takes stupid damage from anything thrown. If the war doesn't want to level throwing you're basically stuck though I suppose.
For the record, you don't even need an attacking Mage for the Galka. One time when our Red Mage got a little overzealous and died, our Ranger took him out with Holy Bolts just fine. A Ninja could do it with Elemental Ninjutsu too. When a NIN/RNG/RDM trio can win so easily inside eight minutes and you have thirty I gotta believe that any three jobs can win if they really put their minds to it.
What about 3 of the SAME jobs?
I could say a job that could do it, but I'd prefer not to set Nynja off on one his OMGGIMPEDTHEMWTF freak outs.
FFXI is flexible enough in that there's always a way to win no matter what you have at your disposal. I don't really know how to tackle this question unless you give me a three job example for me to work withOriginally Posted by namfoodle

3 smn would be fun :D
I was just being silly.
Anyway, 3 SMN would die in that fight extremely quickly unless you somehow found a way for Astral Flow to kill the Mithra. My experiments on that BC with SMN have always turned out to fail and a Taru SMN, unless built very specifically for it, cannot stand more than 2-3 hits at most from any of those mobs.
It's 15 minutes, so it's possible to run out of time (we ran out our first time, actually killed the galka at the end with MB but screen faded and time ran out as the galka died so it didn't countOriginally Posted by Russta

o rly? Hmm, that changes things slightly but I still think you have enough time to work around the deficiencies of an imperfect setup.Originally Posted by Rex
yep, as long as you don't waste any time sitting around (which we did our first run) you can do it with just about any reasonable setup.
Ok then. Let's create the random setup.
Zingdord is a lovable taru taru who thinks that it's just too awesome that he's a lil guy with a lil dragon. He's been working hard and he's gotten him and his lil dragon enough power to call himself Level 75 DRG. Lately, he's been thinking of leveling another job but he loves his precious George and would not like to think of a world without him. (75 DRG)
Like Zingdord, Uzbekistan loves pets. However, it is to Carbuncle that the love of Uzbekistan goes. Him and Carby have been through tons and tons of adventures together and he's looking forward to a time when he can go on even more adventures together. Zingdord is thinking of leveling a different job as well but he's been thinking of WHM as he can still hang out with carby. (SMN 75)
It is almost as though Bingbong was born singing. All his life, Bingbong has brought joy and harmony to those who have none by filling the air with his sweet breath. He's become so skilled in the ways of the song that he feels it is time to branch out and find other uses for his skills. Currently, he is thinking about Red Mage, but the impure thoughts of it's black magics disturb his innocent mind. (BRD 75)
They have pretty decent incomes, these three...though they are a little weird. They've all banded together in search of these earrings everyone is talking about.
Can it be done?!
Well the Hume could be taken out with both the Bard and the Dragoon using a non-rapier 1hd Sword while the SMN keeps Garuda on her. I've never actually worked out what the Elvaan is strong/weak against so I can't give any advice other than "do the norm". Mithra is obviously easy, just use Polearm and Leviathan. Galka... hmm, touchy. My suggestion would be to make a renkei between the Dragoon and the Bard (Skewer>Fast) and have the SMN MB an Astral Flow. I don't know how well a Dragoon tank would hold up but never underestimate how overpowered Mambo is.
Failing that Uzbekistan could trade oil for the earrings.
LOL, love the story XDOriginally Posted by namfoodle
lol @ bingbong... well with the galka, wouldn't wyvern breath do 2x damage to him anyway? Wouldn't be too bad as a melee. MB astral flow for something like 1500-2k would be nice as well
From my experience, I've yet to see an actual weakness in the Elvaan. To that though, I would also say I have yet to see an actual strength. The Elvaan just seems to take damage normally and typically doesn't pose too much of a threat to a NIN. i could be wrong though but after 15+ attempts, you'd think I would notice something.
My only theory is that he's really, really strong but I'm just too good to get hit so I wouldn't knowOriginally Posted by namfoodle

a rdm/blm can solo the galka with chainspell nuke / drain / aspir
i did it a few times, and you can convert and 1/2 kill the elvaan too. Aspir grants a decent amount of mp from any of the automations.
I was lookin' at this glass see and I was thinkin', 'man, that thing is half empty.' But you know, now that you mention it, maybe, just maybe that glass might be half full.My only theory is that he's really, really strong but I'm just too good to get hit so I wouldn't know
Then again, i'm usually standin' there look cool all makin' sure that glass don't be breakin'. Whatever might be inside it is the glasses business!![]()
Yeah' you' know,' I' 'love' endin' every' word' with' 'one' of' 'these' fancy' apostrophe' 'thingers.' 'Yo.'
