Thijs got it.
you have feet.. and legs.. walk.. and look at the images.. a lot of them seem to have NO problem at picking up a heavy load of boxes and walking off with it from a store. When people choose to stay there (as many of them did) when they could have atleast WALKED (in the 4 days they had to atleast evacuate they could have gotten far enough or safter than New Orleans.. that piece of shit 5 feet under sea level city). They could easily have walked.. and any elderly people could have been helped along.. or if people were actually with any sign of decency.. help drive them along to other places.. and yet still no human down there can be decent during a storm it seems cause they continue to loot, rape, and kill. Granted it isn't 100% of the people that remained.. but it sure is a lot because the police were having trouble controlling it that the national gaurd had to be brought it. I'm sorry.. but they don't get my Sympathy for being dumbasses.Originally Posted by Daahan

how am I a dumbass? cause I refuse to give any sympathy or care to those that are now looting, raping, and killing? They don't deserve it.. And those that stayed but aren't doing those things are still dumb for staying. They could have atleast walked or hithch-hiked or something...Dumb people, in my opinion.
What about the lady I dealt with today at the relief center who's mother was left behind at the nursing home and noone could get to her? Thats not her fault. Neither is the lady who had a baby in a tree because she was stranded there above what was 6 ft deep of sewage water. Sometimes I think compassion for people no matter who, why, or for what reason they did something is needed just because of the life altering situation they endured. Its really easy to say what people should have done and how its their fault when your on dry land and sitting at your computer in your house.Originally Posted by Elemmire
right.. why were they not moved before the huricane? I'm sure someone could have gotten to them in time for before the huricane hitting. They chose to stay.. or people that could have went to get them chose not to.
Elemmire is walking on the street. Suddenly, a brick falls out of building wall hitting him in the head.
Onlookers stop for a second... stare... one says:
"Dumb ass should have moved"
The End.

Look, hurricanes hit the south all the time. It's usually not a big deal. Everyone is like oops another storm. This time, it was unfortunate. You're a very ignorant person for having the attitude that these people got what they deserved. Not everyone has family or friends that can/will get them when a storm is coming.
Many others just flat out don't have another place to go or money to get somewhere else. Leaving your home means you need gas money, hotel money, a WORKING CAR, maybe bus money if you don't have a car. And as we've stated, certain parts of New Orleans are very poor. You've obviously never been there.
leaving your home means you need one thing really.. THE ABILITY TO MOVE. WALKING OR RUNNING.. I know it's a foreign concept to many people today.. but it's entirely possible. They were warned atleast 4 days in advance. Even walking for the time fully would let them get out of dead center of the storm. Granted.. there are really those who are completely immobile and that's where the government failed. However, the majority of the people I know that stayed there and those that I see on the news chose to stay. Fully able to walk atleast.. and some with cars. A lot of them now looting, killing, and raping. I don't feel sorry for them and since they seem to be the whole down in atleast New Orleans.. let it burn.Originally Posted by Setsuko

bitch, if you will ^^ *female* I just don't see the point of a lot of them getting pity. The only ones are the very few that truly had no other choice. Those that stated because they just wanted to ride it out was their own choice. Those that stayed and are now looting, raping, and killing.. well, they should just burn in the deepest pits of hell
Another big issue, to cover previous points, is just before the storm hit is that gas prices rised a lot. Some places ran out and others started gouging them to insane amounts. For those that had a working car, you were looking at $100 gas tanks. Some people couldn't afford to simply load the car. Yes, walking would have worked, or would it?Originally Posted by Setsuko
When you're walking and have no where to go, what are you going to do when you do get out of New Orleans, but you've got no shelter? You're in the middle of a freakin swamp and absolutely no safety from a category 5 hurricane. Hmm.
I vaguely remember this topic was about funny & contra-government playing cards someone made, yesterday.

It was a horrible thing that happened in New Orleans, I had some family that live in Louisiana that were affected, as well as others in the south that felt effects from it.
You can be sad and helpful and supportive of the cause.
But it doesn't mean you can't also laugh at a joke.
It's not like they're making fun of Katrina, as people said it's stabbing fun at the government and the Liberal/Conservative sides to everything. I know for a fact everyone was laughing when KanYe did his thing and everyone posted it all over the internet.
That was because of Katrina, I didn't hear anyone calling people animals for laughing at that.
It was a joke, not laughing at Katrina, but trying to find a reason to smile in the dark times.
This hurricane shit pisses me off because it is making it rain more on my college campus.
GOD DAMN YOU HURRICANE <insert name here>!!!
