My parser reflected that 1% crit adjustments were actually, truly, 1% apiece.
Who knew?
PS. Destroyers are also +6% crit.

Unless you xp for 100 hours straight with and without someone having the crit% merits, then I don't think you can have an accurate parse.
<--- parsed for a long long time before and after getting the merits. It's accurate.
Now that Behemoth has popped, to be more specific about why people think that the crit bonuses are larger than they really are:
With destroyers + 3 crit merits, 14-14.5% crit rate
With just destroyers, 11-11.5% crit rate
With cross-counters, no crit merits, 5-5.5% crit rate.
So with destroyers and 3 crit merits, my relative crit rate is almost TRIPLED. No wonder people think they do more than they say.
What about the DEX factor for crits? My MNK crits a fuck load with haidate+mithran DEX...I should parse it but I don't wanna download one.
Hoping I can parse that soon, I just got alky bracelets, I want to test them against o.kotes anyway...
I'd like to see how a warrior with max sword merits, a suppanomimi, a fortitude torque, a riddill, and a joyeuse would do with max berserk recast time down. They could knock the downtime from 2:00 to 1:10.
I don't have a ridill but I've noticed that double attack is somewhat nerfed with multihit weapons. I've never seen my joyeuse hit 3 times in one round so I'd take it that double attack does not stack on top of it. Of course I can't really prove that the double attack might have made the joyeuse swing twice when it would have swung once some rounds though.
I'm going all-out double attack on mine though since I'll always be using 2 axes for xp pts unless I ever get a ridill. Even if I did, I'm not too sure I'd have the balls to erase double attack merits only to put 15 merits into berserk recast and find out it's not as good.
Double Attack and Crit Rate, like everyone else said.

Yeah, in theory that's true. However, as people have said, for whatever reasons (server/client disagreement most likely, lag, whatever) there is often a gap between Defender wearing and being able to recast it. The longest I've ever seen it take was 26 seconds a couple weeks ago kiting Kirin...I remember the amount because it was baffling. Usually it's about 6-10 seconds in a semi-crowded/laggy situation like Kirin's room. For me, anyways. Your mileage may vary. Should that happen? No. Does it happen? Yes.Originally Posted by Heian
Orfeo - capping Zerk or Aggressor are really good options especially if you use Ridill/Joyeuse. I played with those merits for a long time. However I eventually just got tired of tracking separate recasts for Zerk/Agg, half the time when I got slightly lazy I wouldn't be putting the faster/capped one up immediately, rendering the merits a waste. Also, while those benefit dual swords the most, DA merits benefit every single weapon you ever use and go a great deal towards making Rampage more consistent at the high end.
To whoever mentioned never seeing Joyeuse triple attack - innate double attack doesn't stack with Rid/Joy/Merc sword/whatever in the sense that you can double attack on the weapon's native double attack - it stacks in the sense that if the weapon doesn't fire, your own DA might still fire. Also, innate DA is good because it can fire on WS. Multihit weapons cannot. That's a big reason why DA merits are good even if you use Ridill/Joyeuse.
The timers for Defender are different from Macro use to menu use. If you used macro for Defender, you can reuse it instantly. If you used menu, you'll have to wait usually from 5-15 seconds (from personal experience).
Just macro it. (Bad Nike pun)
I wish my Ridill would swing 6 times.Originally Posted by Ryany

Berserk recast kinda seems like a waste to me. If you have a brd and are using atk food, theres no way in hell berserk is going to make any difference at all, you're way past your atk cap.
It seems like to me no matter how good your attack is berserk will always increase your overall damage by a fuckton, like 10-20 more damage per swing with it on.
Luminare, did you ever determine whether DA procs before Weapon proc or after? I remember a few months ago you were concerned DA merits would end up hurting your Ridill due to procing over the 3 hit. Now that you're meriting DA, did you find any significant conclusion to that?
Berserk is more for HNMs and such. With Berserk up, it's very rare to hit for 0 damage with Maneater/Ridill. Without it, damage drops a lot. Since I tank them via damage, Berserk merits easily win.Originally Posted by Xavier
Plus, Minuet+March is better then Minuet*2 in EXP. Wouldn't be suprised if March*2 is better then Minuet+March aswell, but haven't done any testing with that.
Bringing back up the dead horse of Defender but I always used it from Macro, I never use JA menu. Then again I am a PS2 player, macros seem alot easier, so I just macro everything.
Ummmm.... wtf doesmean?proc
"process" or "go off"
Like when you see "Biguglymob is Paralyzed" that means Para proc'd.
thank you, I kinda figured it was something like that from the context it was used (I was thinking activate/trigger which is almost the same thing).
procreate
