Actually, when you say syke, or psyche if you prefer, to fake someone out, it is not considered a real word, it is slang. It's not in the dictionary defined as a "fake out" but it is in the urban dictionary as slang and can be found under both spellings. The real definition of psyche has nothing to do with faking someone out. It comes from "psyche out" like messing with someone's head since psyche basically means the mind. So technically psyche is the correct spelling, but since it's not a real word in the context it was used, it is slang, and syke is an acceptable spelling.
