Can we get back to discussing how amazing Opeth are please?
Damnation>all, discuss.

Still Life and Blackwater Park are my favorite Opeth albums. I wasn't really blown away by Damnation, however. Ghost Reveries is easily one of the top albums this year.
If you haven't heard Edge Of Sanity you should check out the song Crimson. It's a 40 minute long prog-death song written by Dan Swano and it's by far one of my all-time favorite songs. It also has Mikael do vocals in several parts.
Damnation didn't really do much for me when I first heard it but i stuck with it and it's sheer mellowness has made it my favourite. I do love Blackwater Park myself too, Bleak is my favourite from all albums actually.Originally Posted by Amarok
I'll check out "Crimson" too.
Don't get me wrong I love Damnation. I think if you like Opeth you will love "Crimson" and if you like that check out the "Crimson II" which is another song by Dan Swano that is a continuation of the story of "Crimson".
What other bands do you like?
I have a very wide taste in music. I love groups like Opeth, Tool, Mars Volta where it's long and complex and you have to think an' shit. Massive fan of Mastodon too but I'm not sure where they fall here. There's also The Locust, Mindless Self Indulgence that go long side Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. Oh yah and who can forget Mark Lanegan, Jeff Buckley, Interpol and Talking Heads?! >.>Originally Posted by Amarok

The Mars volta are just awesome.
Seeing them live was a pants-wetting experience.

Most technical album of the year? Most definitely.
I've always been a Muse fan, they are relatively new in the US ;;
For sure. Most technical album of the year? Most definitely.
Also a couple other bands you might want to check out are "Maudlin of The Well" and "Kayo Dot". They are essentially the same band but they lost a few members after Maudlin's 2nd release and decided a name change was in order.

What genre is this? Seeing Amarok talking about it leads me to believe that it's the gore death black death blood yuck metal one.
Grats guys, good job on Ace's Helm, too bad you also didn't get our elite Heavy Shell drop lol... /sarcasm. Pretty smooth fight, but really shouldn't expect anything else from Stelvia. Been wondering when you guys would get around to this lol. Anyway grats again

Well if we're orientating around Opeth then... I don't know XD. Play someone Damnation then play, say, Deliverance and they'd swear it was a different group. One minute death metal, melodic prog the next!Originally Posted by Epical

Genre isn't really gore kinda... gore is more like Cephalic Carnage and the like, this would be more around the Melodic style Metal.
(that probably made no sense but whatever XD)
