    Help me build a computer.

Ok....So I know the basics of a computer, but I need some suggestions on what to get since I'm so outdated I don't know where to start. I want to completely rebuild my computer and would prefer to keep it below $800 if possible, going no higher than $1000.

I want the whole thing. Tower/mobo/processor/vid card/sound card/whatever, all the real shit I can get with about $800 or less in one mid tower.

I agree. Buy a premade computer if that's your budget. Why build a mediocre machine? If you're gonna build your own then put in the best shit that you will love forever and keep you warm at night.

are u kidding me? between 800-1000 bucks can definately beat the shit out of a dell in that price range.

to get a dell with a good enough vid card to play the high ends games of today it will most likely put u over a grand alone, not to mention its integrated, the mobo, HD, and ram will all be shit most likely, AND its a fucking dell.

Newegg is the best, I built my computer with parts from them for about $700 over 2 years ago, and my comp isn't a piece of shit.

Tiger Direct hasn't done anything bad for me, so far my hard drive, RAM and video cards have all been alright.

    I'll look at newegg tho

sometimes screwed up orders can be good. my friend got two 1 gig ram for only ordering and paying for one. he also got another extra thing that he wasnt supposed to but i can't remember it off the top of my head

2 gig ram for price of 1... that makes me cry considering that fact that i have trouble playing FF with WMP on at the same time -_-

Newegg is Cool. They have insane fast shipping cuz they work your a$$ at thewarehouse <LOL> I know cuz i work a few blocks away from them >_>. My co-worker said shipping doesn't stop til 8pm or so.

Tiger is ok if your ordering popular items, if your getting oem or no name brand they ususaly send out used or repacked rma stuff and sell it as new <LOL> cuz we do that here at work. >_>

I use Infotech. Not only because I like their parts, but there is a store about 25 minutes from my house, so I don't have to wait for it to ship the parts.

    The hours there suck though.

I used to use NewEgg till I tried ZipZoomFly. Most things you can get off NewEgg you can get off ZipZoomFly with the mail in rebates already taken off the price. Plus, on almost everything, they give free 2 day shipping with FedEx. Most of the stuff I've ordered from then has come in like a day and a half.

NewEgg isn't bad, but ZipZoomFly is worth looking at if you're building a new rig.

Similar to what I have (SB75G2). They don't seem to make the model anymore though. I like Shuttles. They're pretty good and portable in case you want to LAN or w/e.

A bit pricey, but it can be turned into an x800 XT Plat. Edition w/ BIOS Flash. Save yourself like $100.

Basic good PC3200 RAM. Get 2 sticks of 512MB

    I have this HDD.

$1060. You could opt for a 9800 Pro to save some money. They're less than $150 for a new one. Less than $100 for a refurbished card.
