I liked 9 more then 8, trance system was pretty annoying but at least the characters were more interesting, the story was also better imo cause ultimacia is the shittiest vilian to ever grace a FF. 8 Was like the only FF that I felt had no sense of impending danger (that compelled you to do or see this or the shit might blow up)

Junctioning, while it was a decent system made magic that you junctioned pretty redundant, and if you don't have 99 of the magic you junctioned then it's pointless, lvling up was stupid and the characters didn't have much flair to them. =\

Ya FFIX's only real setback is the trance system, it sucks. But other than that I think it's brill.

I hated the junctioning system in 8, I would never, ever use magic because of it and it was just weird. Lvling up was a fucking joke, 1k exp per lvl all the way to lv 100? I was lv100 with Squall before the end of disc 2, storyline was nice and all but not as involving as other games.

I remember the first time I played it (long time ago) and I junctioned Curaga to my HP LOL. Everytime I used it my HP would go down and I didn't know why XD

I don't see how you could even think about comparing junctioning and materia, for one thing materia doesn't directly affect stats (less i'm forgetting something), secondly, materia has combination effects that junctioning can only dream of. Also you didn't need to draw magic, even though it was a lot faster to get 99 of a magic (and never use it again, which is another thing materia has on it) then to lvl up a materia to lvl 4-5.

The GF system had something closer to materia, but not on such a large scale as 7 since the command list REALLY limits you, if you could have more commands then it would've been better.

How to lvl up in FF8.

Play a ton of triple triad in balumb gardens at the start of the game (when no special rules are in place). Get a ton of the lower lvl cards and get a whole crap load of magic and abilities. Jack up all your stats. Fight as little as possible until you get the no-encounter ability and then use it and never fight another normal battle again.

I liked some things about FF8, but the story bored me so quick, I found it harder and harder to keep playing. FF6 and 7 are my favorites, and sadly I never finished FF9. I did enjoy it but ya.... I let some one borrow it and never got to finish it.

I liked FFVIII, i pretended Rinoa was a really effeminate dude, and that game was awesome :D and the cutscenes were great, but i dont remember much of the game lol

I refused to play FFIX because i hated the ppl with the tiny bodies and the huge heads...i wanted to take a big rock and squash them RAWR lol (but oddly, i play a taru in FFXI and i love it lol)

FFVIII was so bad it's not even funny :\ story sucked, characters sucked, music was ok, leveling was COMPLETELY pointless, junction system made using magic dumb... ya.. I don't really understand how anyone liked it other than it did have some cool FMVs here and there.. oh well. To each his own I guess.

i still like VIII but by far the worse FF game imo, it was the first FF game that i put down for more than a week from when i first started the game to when i beat it.

the story in FFVIII is a really good one, however the battle system sucked because you just spammed Guardian Forces the whole time during a fight.

Well it's not like you know this right off the bat, you find it out near the end of the game, also the whole laguna thing, taking you back in time untill the present, untill the stories interlace, and that girl who keeps sending you back, the battle sequence between the 2 gardens, etc, I loved it all.

Laguna thing was pretty cool and the music was awesome when you got into a fight. GF summoning was good too, but I liked 9's summon sequences a lot more. Diabolos has a hot summon in 8
