man.. have you ever played that one boss in Star Ocean 2? the one that is like.. fast as hell and virtually invincible? Razz
Play saga frontier 1, the part for lutes is like.. fucking wtf, some robot boss, that has like 4 forms... we couldnt beat him for shit, EVEN WITH GAMESHARK CODES
You really suck at the game if you can't beat him normally. Mondo I belive was the name of the pilot of the robot. You hp/etc amount.

You can dodge it kinda, it just says miss after the animation and the character does a little thing, my Cloud dodged Ultima 100% (don't

SO series probably has the best optional boss fights, my god SO2 and SO3 had some good fights. Gabriel is a pussy, Isrella (sp, the boss after) is the bitch and Indalacio with limiter off who's the only one I can't beat with Practice on =\ SO3 Sphere 211 and fighting Lenneth and Ethereal Queen (who's easy compared to Lenneth), Urlsa Lava Temple fighting (possibly) Fayt+team mate based on ended or Luther and then finally Freya, who's a bitch with like 10mil hp and 7mil mp. Good times.

Yeah, never really did the sidequests in SO3 yet. Gonna get back into it one day, just gonna take time and such.

As do I, but I just don't have enough jacked up power to take that shit on. I've tried to do that strange temple-like place, forgot the name. It's in that frickin desert, you have to go there, ultimately you go there to get to Firewall.

That underground area is insane, and since I got mauled on like the 2nd or 3rd basement, figured I won't even attempt Sphere 211 XD

Oh, god I hate that Temple it's like one of the most boring places in the game cause of the navigation and one puzzle before the boss (who is actually pretty easy)

Which boss? That Robinwind fucker somehow kept screwing me over, badly might I add. I think you had to fight three of them at once, and those dudes are annoying as shit when it's 3 vs. 1, not to mention 3 vs. 3

The arena thing is kinda ok...SO2's version I liked more. It's kinda broken though because all you really gotta do to advance to the extreme top is spam Air Raid over and over...and over >.> Dimensional Door or w/e is good for maybe one or two scenarios. Albeit that ability can do some serious damage in the right instance, overall I'd have to say it's lame beyond extreme.

Edit: I think my highest damage from DD was about 15000 damage on a critical from the last hit.

Yeah, the boss is the Spirit Trio, arena is nice cause sometimes the commentary is funny but ultimately it's easy, especially the rank 1 boss cause you can freeze kill him and then rape some stupid dragon who's seriously weak to wind (250% whirlwind or 300% Air slash of fury owns him), you probably should stop using Fayt after a while cause a lot of his moves are pretty lame even though eathreal blast looks awesome. Most damage i've done... mayyyybe 30k a hit with Cliff and FoF

The dragon was stupid 8) The first one was all right, I kept having issues with him. Didn't know you can Freeze-kill him though.

I just personally prefer to keep the main character always present, it's just my style (regardless if he does kinda suck at some points >.>). Between the right combinations and timing, you can get a pretty sick consecutive hit count. Air Raid -> FoF -> AR -> Acrobat Locus -> AR...again >.> on top of spells and such, sometimes it's just a fun huge number to see 8)

It's sorta like the consecutive combat skills SO2 had, which you really couldn't get a high count until like one specific fight - the Solo arena fight last battle vs. that bigass bird. I've taken off Flip and Float from Claude, and between projectile attack and defense I've basically thrown out almost, if not more than, 300 combat skills 8)

Edit: One thing that's REALLY annoying about SO3 is they built up the story very well on certain points, but when you really figured it out in the end, it was like the worst climax ever.

    "Go farther with Nirokun" >.>

CC was good if you understood it I wish it had more sidequests to it though, not nearly enough as CT.

Oh, the whole swapping bodies thing - FUCKING LAME

Sorta like Serial Experiments Lain, granted that was an Anime and not game, it was only well appreciated if fully comprehended.

    "Nirokun, just the best." :D

Chrono Cross just had the prettiest world to live in, and my full ass green team (that fairy girl, angel pip (green), and NeoFeo was the shit for summoning Djinn and that flytrap thing :D)

    Good music too

Yeah, I should've guess how the story would progress once I heard "4D beings". I think Fayt is ok, but only thing making me like him was Ethereal Blast (and only for the looks mind-you), the other chars had some great moves, loved doing Blazing Cannon and just spamming the button, or doing Max Shockwave repeatedly from a distance. Highest combo count on So2 was like 100 ish, I sucked at doing that =x

Chrono Cross is good, I really liked it up to the point where I couldn't play anymore due to having a pal PS1 and some weird game converter that wouldn't let me change disks without saving first (that really screwed up my chance to finish Parasite Eve 1 and Chrono Cross ), gay thing is, I had JUST got my body back and then it was on to disk 2 kinda, favorite place was the Isle of the Damned, where you had to fight that dude with 2 swords, damn I wanna play that game now, it owns... I like it more then CT even though that game was fucking hot.

I hated the story of SO3. If you placed the OPA somewhere in Vanguard 3 instead of Elicoor 2, you could get rid of the whole storyline of Elicoor 2 and the story would still be intact. Which means pretty much every event that takes place on Elicoor 2 has nothing to do with the story and is just filler.

It would have been nice if there was some connection between the '4d' world and elicoor 2 that meant something. Like a programmer intentionally messed with the inhabitants of that planet to set up future events and rebel against Luther or something. But all it turns out to be is 'hey there is an OPA here, lucky us'.

    "Ooh la la, Nirokun"

    Haven't even seen Ethereal Blast yet >.> SO3's item creation setup I do not like at all, it's worse and more random than trying to unlock the hidden talents from SO2. I mean, hell, in SO2 you knew X + Y = Z if you did it right. SO3 you just seem to spend thousands of Fol into getting bullshit -.-;

The FMV of Fayt going into Destruction mode in that one Vendeeni attack was awesome, unfortunately that scene alone sets you up for a HUGE let down later on.

I will compliment them though on keeping the SO storyline as a whole in tact. You see a lot of familiar places, names, and people throughout all of it, which helps a bit. Those who never played the original and first Star Ocean won't fully understand everything though, and getting the ROM for it is not too simple might I add either

I think I beat SO1's final area, maybe not. Could be getting it confused with ToP.

I do have to ask though, despite the claims of Gabriel Celesta being horrendously evil - did you ever fight her soul? Now THAT was a fight you had to pay attention to. Even in Earth mode that bitch is HARD.

It wasn't his/her soul, I think it was more of a sister thing, gabriel was white and the sister was black and muuuuuch harder, I kicked her ass though 8)

It's some type of soul or evil spirit, Gabriel actually says it in the text after you defeat her. It's like something along the lines of "my evil soul resides within..." blah blah blah. It basically says the Silver Trumpet has an evil spirit within it, I don't remember the words to the T unfortunately.

Edit: Did you also happen to notice, that SO2 is the only one in that series that made Extinction actually extremely useful? Not to mention it's actually the best spell in the game. Meteor Swarm is NOT >.> ToP, and SO1 had it like crap, not sure if SO3 had it, but like I said, I never fully completed it either.

    8) can't remember the text from what he said, but that sounds about right, I think I still have the stuff to fight her again (woo for old save files)

Just dawned on me, something like "evil spirits resides within this holy instrument" or whatever >.> Dammit I can't remember, all I know is I beat her so easily, and with double Fol and EXP cards in effect I got a LOT of levels XD The evil spirit is awesome for leveling up since you can basically do it repeatedly, and get Holy Sword Farwells and I believe Levantine as well 8)

That was one way SO1 was broken, could keep playing the Clarinet 2 song and summon Gabrielle. Usually the first few summons were rough, but after you got jacked up in levels it was easy as hell. 7Twin Slash owned her sooo bad :D She dropped that Fantastic gearset too, forgot the name, but the only other time you acquire it is on a sidequest in which you immediately (and forcibly) lose it upon leaving the area (and there's no other way out). Ratix, Milly, Fear, and Joshua = dream team 8)
