Wouldn't posting on my own websites forums about it being gay for anyone to sell rare/ex items, and not defending BGs own actions because I don't agree with them be about as close as I can get to notifying the authorities?

Your analogy doesn't fit; you are not helping your boss beat his wife.

More specifically, I see this as a cop-out; an excuse to enjoy the benefit from an activity you disagree with.

Edit: wow, like 5 responses while I was typing my post.

Anyway, you can get technical and say "hey selling ra/ex items is OK, buying them is wrong." I'd call that shortsighted, but I guess that gets you around the hypocrisy of bashing Realm for buying a Hrotti while you help your LS sell Wyrm Beards. Personally, I'd rather be hypocritical than shortsighted, but that's just me.

In short, you're saying if you disagree with something, your only solution is to quit, right? Its not enough to denounce people who do it regardless of affliation? The flaw in that plan is that if the people who object to something leave, it opens the gate for a much more broad/widescale application of that policy since theres nobody to keep it in check.

Guess what, by knowing that he did and not taking action against it, that makes you an accessory to murder and is punishable crime.
it depends on the severity of the issue. and simply knowing that someone has hit his wife once won't make you an accessory to murder unless you know more intricate details (like him buying a weapon, planning a place and time, etc.)

i concede that the analogy doesn't fit.

but the activity is camping and killing the NM, not the act of buying/selling the item.

No, I'm actually saying you can just concede that it's a bit hypocritical, and then mumble something about taking the bad with the good.

I don't see anywhere in his original post asking for a comment about if he should have bought it or not, yet people felt it was so vital of a point to bring that up and accuse him of RMT.

Only if it results Bert or anyone who took part in making decision and supporting such view point in being jailed. I'm kidding. I'm kidding.

you should know better than anyone how things naturally spiral off of the intended discussion. and we're still a lot more on topic than you usually are. we're still wrapped around the single action of Realm buying a Hrotti, and his entire question is founded on that action. any discussion of that action is pertinent to the topic.

that was not said by the same person. you're taking the opinions of two people who have already agreed to disagree and claiming that as a singular opinion.

Even though I don't agree with selling rare/ex either, its out of my control so its a dead issue to me.

However, I bashed on someone engaging in the purchasing of rare/ex items from another linkshell, which I do not now/nor have I ever done. Buying and selling are completely unrelated in the context of your quote, ignoring my stance against both regardless. If you could explain how thats hypocritical, I would gladly drop the topic.

    Thank you, Hirro.

He bought it because he wanted to fuck around with it, had the money to burn, and isn't in an LS that camps Fafnir. You should be happy, another LS that could kill Fafnir but doesn't, another LS whom you don't have to fight for claim.

Edit because I just can't get quote posting down

Thats entirely true, but around page 4, the thread became a lot less about realm and a lot more about the morality of buying/selling HNM items outside of your LS. Its not about hrotti to me anymore, and hrotti was never that important in the first place. I just want an answer to my last post.

Ya, I understand why he bought it, and I can understand wanting to have a toy like it, its a pretty looking sword. At the same time I still don't like buying items from other linkshells though, so I should've clarified more from the beginning that my posts were a lot less about Realm individually and a lot more about that type of purchase in general. I still need that answer.

Why does it matter if what people post is relevant to the topic? The OP is only the foundation of a topic, and in no way represents what will come of it. Noone cares about the OP at hand, because he's A)Obviously so dumb to think it would work on a wyvern type mob, which isnt a dragon, and B)RMTs RA/EX items he should be earning on his own. People find those two reasons good enough reasons not to realistically answer his topic... so I count that as being relevant.

Well I never said you were hypocritical, but I will say that while you may disaprove of the buying of Rare/ex items, you should be happy that you're in a situation where you'll never have to worry about that.
I'm not sure I'd do it myself, but if someone else wants to buy an item from a legitimate linkshell (whether you think FI is legitimate or not is obviously up for debate, I think that it is) then they can, however I do think there is a distinction between that and buying from gilsellers (just throught I'd throw that in there).

and btw, Lockecole, I couldn't tell you the Fking difference between a wyrm and a dragon and a wyvren, sorry I'm not up to speed on my types of overgrown lizards that don't really exist.
RMT stands for Real Money Trade, for the last time that means buying gil. You can buy items from an LS without buying gil. Think before you speak

Actually, this is in direct response to:

I apologize if this was unclear. Xavier is taking issue that he never clarified his position on selling ra/ex items, only buying them. My response is that it's pretty shortsighted to hold different opinions of the two, because you can't have one without the other.

Fair enough. For the record, I think treating ra/ex stuff as a commodity is gay as hell too, and I don't hold any illusions that I can do anything about it.

The seperation of one person buying ra/ex and another selling ra/ex being impossible, if you condemn one you ought to condemn the other. Not doing so is shortsighted.

but I did condemn both and you're trying to hold BG over my head, which is something out of my control as why it was hypocritical.

Thanks Mr.Obvious. Now I have two people constantly reminding me on how topics get derailed. I get it. Yeesh. Did you bother even trying to understand his question? In your eyes he's stupid for asking a question. Wow. If there were more people like you in the world, we wouldn't have advanced anywhere as civilization.

almost all the time, the buyers seek us out, not the other way around. i know there's at least 2 people who expressed the interest to buy Wyrm Beards from us. and the price we charge is based on what buyers are offering.

i think selling bottled water is gay but supply and demand so whatever.

if everyone in the LS who wants it has it, what else can we do with it besides treat it as a commodity?
