Does anyone happen to have a video of a group successfully defeating this thing? We lost twice to him yesterday, but we're hoping to go back in full force and take him down sometime in the coming week ;o

After a few messy as hell fights nest to the shack, my LS has taken a different approach.
We have a ninja and a white mage spawn it and drag it to the bridge leading into the safehold. Sometimes Kurrea won't follow the whole way but whatever, just have the ninja keep running.
Melee, BLM, tank team just waits around the bridge and does a quick distortion or darkness skillchain and let mages MB blizzard. Build TP off the bugards and bees around the area. We'll leave a spotter near the soup to let us know what kind of buff he has, to try and avoid any unfortunate Aeroga III incidents.
Most fights are over in 10-15 minutes, some take ages when Kurrea acts like a bitch and keeps getting melee/magic def buffs. Not breaking any speed records, but we're able to do it with as few as 12 or so people.
When he eats the soup he picks up a random one of his buffs. Basically if its shitty buffs no problem. But if he hits a magic barrier and a physical barrier one back to back, your screwed.
Looking to get a pair of these trousers, and I was wondering. What buffs can he get from the soup? Also, do these buffs wear out over time?
Sub ninja. every single person in your party, ninja or summoner (I find ninja to be more fun) because he AOE instant cast spams tornado...
it's a fun NM because it's actually challenging, unlike most NMs in the game.
OH, and BST. CourierCarrie can chase kurrea over the hill back to his ??? spawn point. <3CC.
oh and he also has auto-regen like a bitch >.<;;;
I didn't find it fun or challenging in the slightest, I found it broken and incredibly fucking irritating.Originally Posted by Janeru

This NM would be great if when it gets a buff it loses all the buffs it got before.
same, we killed one in under 3 minutes with one death to instant cast Toranado on a BLM, than the next one we ended up just going to sleep after messing with it for more than an hour and a half.Originally Posted by Russta

Here is some info I found on KI forums a couple of months ago. I didn't see the list in this thread, so I hope it helps. Some of the names of the abilities are slightly wrong but they are close enough that you'll know what they are when you see them.
From KI forums:
-----------------------------------------------------
Scales glow = 50% magic reduction. This stacks, so the next time you'll get 25% damage on spells, then the next 12%...
Skin hardens = Stoneskin, invincible, or super defence boost. Whatever it is, people did 0 damage with weaponskills
Veins bulging in his head = We tried to figure this one for a while. It was either an INT boost, or some kind of berserk like move. Didn't seem that strong.
Muscles bulging = HUGE str boost, doubled the physical damage that it was doing.
Eyes glowing = HUGE magic attack boost, it's spells start doing double damage. This STACKS, this is where you get the huge damage on tornado and aeroga3 spells.
Surrounded by wind = Big wind spell comming up, that's all that we really figured. Every time he used this, he dropped a aeroga3 onto the allience.
Wounds disapper = This is the curing move, that's regaining all of that HP.
Face turns green = This clears ALL previous buffs, returning him to his begining state. VERY GOOD, as it makes all of your damage return to normal.
---------------------------------------
We have had mixed luck with this fight, it really seems to be completely random if you don't kill it within the first or second soup slurpything. The ideal setup for us is similar to Shen, as someone mentioned: keep the whms out of the main ally and have them target the tanks and anyone else they see getting hit. Have as many blms as you can on it, as many darkness/distortion chains as you can pull off quickly, and everyone that can't do those chains use spirits instead. Every time we lose, our melee have taken too long to do skillchains at the start, so make sure they are on top of things. There are a ton of mobs around so you can tp off of them, but make sure that you're ready to go if you see the face turn green thing because you only have ~30 sec again to do as much damage as possible while it's unbuffed. Hope this stuff helps those that haven't fought it before =) It's a blast to fight but can be frustrating after a while ^^;

Lol well, I thought it was challenging and therefore fun. Though I will say that on our first attempt to kill it, it took about 2 hours. (Strategy problem) and then we figured out CourierCarrie owns. <3<3<3CC
And by fun I mean better than your average no surprises NM, like any of the Zilart HNMs or even the kings (even if the pants aren't that great).
This guy can be really random. Sometimes it took us just a few minutes to beat him, other times 30+ min.
I don't know about some of his buffs, but we typically used Nin tanks on him and they would drop like flies due to a Hundred Fists type ability or just constant double or triple attacking. It was insane.
Other times we wouldn't have 1 death.
