Honestly, this is not MWM's first offense. It probably wouldn't of mattered if he wasnt a repeat offender. When people report the same person over and over again, trivial stuff will start to matter. MWM has been banned several times in the past and thru these many offenses, he was sentenced to death.

"I have been a customer with SquareEnix for approximately two years. In the past I have also purchased products from the same company for countless years. Lately there have been countless periods of extended maintenance, one several weeks ago for approx. 8 hours, another about a week later extending from it's original 10 hours into 12 hours, now most recently a 10 hour maintenance that, after a period of several hours being up, had to undergo a 3 hour maintenance which was assumingly extended to a far greater length.

All of these maintenances have been conducted in North American primetime. Not once out of these three time has SE changed the downtime to any of the other two dominating time zones (Japanese, or European primetime). To me this is extremely unfair. Time and time again it seems as if SE's interest lay solely into the Japanese community, and not that of the North Americans. Frankly to me this is blatant discrimination, and not something to be considered an oversight especially for such extended time.

In the past I feel as if I have been treated less adequately for being part of the North American culture instead of being part of the Japanese (where it originated), or European culture, but this is starting to become inexcusable. SE ranks with the Better Business Bureau as an F - the lowest rating possible. This is evident by the lackluster customer service provided by your GameMasters (GMs); particularly their highly unappealing social capability towards players, and overall apparent technical inability to fix the game servers from what has only been disclosed as "Constant DDoS attacks."

While I have been a long-term customer with this company, I have now begun to question SE's ethics and general interest of its consumer's personal well-being and enjoyment of your services."

I had about a 30 minute long phone call with Customer Support today, asking them a bunch of questions.

First thing I asked was about the account that was used as a mule and banned as well. All I got was a bunch of BS about 'depending on the severity of the ban and what the GM views as necessary is what occurs.' So, currently, it seems to me that the GMs go around and aren't checked, due to #2:

Second thing was about trying to appeal a ban decision by a GM. This got an instant answer of 'No, no, there is no such thing in place to allow people to appeal a ban. Never has been, never seen or heard it done. Ever.'

Maybe they'll give the owner of the account that was banned more info. Good luck.

I know law and the game ToS are two different things, but for a second, humor me.

If a person is constantly arrested for misdemeanors, and has committed many of them, is it fair to give them a sentence reserved for a felony and say "well, they've done stuff like this too many times already"?

Something like that happens in some places in the country. Repeat misdemeanor offenders recieve harsher and harsher sentences (although I doubt felony calibur). In states that have a '3 strikes' rule, if a person committs 3 felonies they automatically get life.

Fair? That's debatable, but a death sentence (or ban in game terms XD ) is never used no matter how many misdemeanors someone committs.

Thanks for all the support guys. If I don't get my account back I don't think I will be returning to FFXI. Maybe use shaodin and show up to some events etc. I have millions of gil in EQ and so many rare/exc items that I have collected over 2 years. I have no real interest in doing it all over again.
