Erm, I have a capped staff skill unlike 90% of PLDs so I don't suck at keeping hate. Hence the "skilled" remark I made about myself in an earlier post.Originally Posted by Sekkite

With refresh alone all I need is a RDM as main heal, with spirit taker I probably wouldn't even need to sit. Now if I could just get some fucking party invites...gah
I've partied with an elvaan paladin with capped staff. He sucked at keeping hate. He switched to sword at the end of the party and there was a palpable improvement in hate keeping.Originally Posted by edgarfigaro
He must've sucked because I keep hate fine as long as I have mp. Obviously you'd get more DoT with sword and board but you recieve less damage overall and if you have spirit taker you can chain after chain with little to no downtime. Not only that, but staves work great (blunt type) on bones and pots.
These forums need to be a lot different before Sage Sundi comes here lol.
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of sleeping a mob?Originally Posted by layoneil
People often sleep harder mobs when the group needs to recover and if it regened like it were unaggro'ed (like 15% per 3 secs?) it would always be back to full by the time it woke up.
Why do people want things nerfed? It just makes killing crap harder.
Kirin fights used to be so much quicker...but now they're nerfed, does that really make all the other melee happy? Maybe you get to be in main alliance now, where a RNG Would have been? I'd personally rather sit outside than have a longer fight.
Especially with the rage mode mechanics, nerfing BLM would really make end game suck. Everyone change to SMN? Even then, lvling that job is the most painful thing I've ever done in my life...
Nerfs are bad, don't ask for them.
That depends on your strat. Even without the RNG nerf, you could kill alot quicker with SATA melees instead of kiting with arrowburn.Originally Posted by Alina

He'll probably get a kick out of a lot of the things we say, and understand what we're so frustrated about.Originally Posted by Correction

Jobs should be asking to be boosted up, rather than nerfing other jobs.
I guess some take satisfaction in seeing other people unhappy, joke's always on them though, because all jobs in FFXI are interlaced, no matter what anyone says. Nerf 1 job and it affects everyone.
every mob i can think of can be taken from 100% to 0% without sleep. if someone is not capable of doing that, than maybe that group isn't at the skill/equip level to kill that mob.Originally Posted by nivlakian
if someone sleeps it to fully recover and that group is strong enough, than they should be able to kill it from 100% without sleeping again.
and it's still not totally crippling to BLMs soloing, they can still bind and gravity kill, just not sleep and rest MP.
if this was implemented, i think the resist sleep rules should be changed to be more flexible.
oh, and i'm not asking for this change. but i think anyone who says BLM can't be nerfed in anyway without breaking the game is wrong.
So you get a Faf and its on PMS, spamming wings like they going out of style , so you decide to sleep it (No matter how good you are, it happens). Mobs regen what ?? 10%HP/every 10 sec or so ?? So you sleep Faf for 30 seconds, and now it's regened 30%HP...would you really want that ??Originally Posted by layoneil
yes, i've considered that. if it happens than it happens.Originally Posted by NynJa

Even with rangers, people have figured out how to get around it all. They also got rid of the Gil buying Rangers; most of them anyway. I can't remember what interview it was but the SE rep said that they were shocked that people had the ability to duo mobs like serket and simurgh. If you make any job stronger, this will only happen more often. The fundamental idea of this game is that SE wants groups of people to do things; they want a balanced party to attack, not just a ninja and a bard.1UP: There's been a big change to the damage Rangers do, as well as their required positioning [Editor's note: Rangers are now required to attack from ranged distance, go figure]. Do you think Rangers in general were too powerful? By scaling back the power of Rangers, does that make the other melee classes more viable?
HT: The reason why we adjusted the Rangers was to help draw out the natural playing ability of players. Previously they were strong in almost every aspect of the game. Now they're going to have to choose the instance when to get involved. You could say Rangers are going to have to be more strategy focused than before. This all will make the other classes more appealing.
1UP: Are you looking to do something similar with Black Mages? A recent trend has been these "Manaburning" parties where five Black Mages (and a tank to hold hate) all cast Blizzaga 3 and kick (arguably) too much ass, too fast. Black Mages can hit level 75 in no time using this strategy.
HT: The Black Mages have been way too strong and ever since we released the game, and we've been trying to make them weaker. But as you know, players always find creative ways to get around this (laughs). But as for what we're going to do in the future, we're planning to continue to look to those Black Mages and continue to adjust them.
I like the changes they've done only because it makes everything that we used to do not work as well. It forces us to rethink strategy and, at least for me, brings a bit of fresh air into the stagnant relm of endgame strategy.
Maybe i'm weird though.
I can understand the Ranged distance attack thing, but RNG pay for each shot, it's not like it's "free" damage. But even then, the way RNG have to stand now really screws up the standard PT setup - good luck trying to setup SATA with a THF and a RNG now, and if the RNG pulls hate when he opens the SC?
If they nerf BLM, they better raise melee effectiveness on HNM. For example, on Aspid, it takes a lot of time to build up TP for Spirits, so if BLMs are gimped horribly, its regen will outpace any damage you do, and if you have lots of melee whacking at Faf/Nid, it's going to be a ton of wing spam...
I guess I'll just hope the nerf makes BLM more strategic, instead of making them totally worthless.
they make it sound as if as long as the ranger is the right distance away from the mob in accordance to whether they are using bow or xbow the dmg hasnt changed, which is bullshit. slug has been like halved and barrage is a joke now.
yeah there is more strat involed but even the smartest rng now is weaker than your average one before they nerfed.
Your RNG and THF sucks if they can't SC... RNG> SC and run at mob before it moves... If they stand there and wait for the mob to come to them, they fail. Kick them and invite a DRG.Originally Posted by Alina
