So I think Odin and Alexander will be joining us some day, possibly in the next expansion. While not mentioned by name, it makes sense...

Of course, we may end up with our first story NPC only Celestial Avatars. :\

    Spoilers below...

There is a Protocrystal of Darkness in Uleguerand Range...only its been shattered. Beastmen kidnapped Emiline (Aldo's sister, from the intro), who was in the Tavnazian choir with Ulmia. They forced her to sing Memoria S^tona to awaken whatever was in the Protocrystal of Darkness, and now it's free and is known by its followers as the "Divinity of Darkness."

Like all Celestial Avatars, Odin has a star. Celestial Avatars slept in Protocrystals. Thus, one can safely assume that Odin is the Divinity of Darkness.

The NPC quests deal with some magical mirrors from the Near East, the Mirror of Blighted Gloom and the Mirror of Blessed Radiance. In the second quest, it is revealed that the Mirror of Blighted Gloom channels the power of a dark entity known as the "Divinity of Darkness," and legend tells of a great clash between an entity of darkness and an entity of light long ago. After repairing the mirror, a mysterious stranger tries to steal it and unleashes its power, Chainspelling Flare on everyone present. Suddenly, your NPC's mirror comes alive and unleashes Banish V on the stranger, who drops the mirror and flees.

While not stated, one can surmise that the NPC's mirror is channelling Alexander, the only entity of light equivalent to a being that was awakened from the Protocrystal of Darkness.

but alexander is just so damn big. i can see downscaling of pheonix to like ffvii size and bahamut from the ingame size to like ffx size but alexander was a city in ffix and a fucking mountain range in ffxiii. how do u downscale that?

or maybe he wont even technically be summoned. maybe all you would see is this ominous shadow, see the smoke from him, and then all his attacks just rain down on the enemy dark falz style O.O

The size issue on Alexander is a concern, but so is Odin's six-legged horse. Not just on size, but also for polygon budget. Like I said, we could just end up getting the first Celestial NPC Avatars.

Heh, as their are no horses in Vana'diel, it would be amusing to see characters freaking out about the weird creature he rides...Or maybe they could change it so that he rides an evil four-legged Chocobo.

Well, Alexander doesn't have to be a castle-sized thing. If you look at a star map, you will notice that the star mentioned in the constellation Alexander is Gordeus. This is tied into the history of Alexander the Great, Gordeus made a complex knot and declared that the person who could undo it would be the king. Many people tried to untie it, but Alexander the Great drew his sword and cut it.

Perhaps the Alexander summon will be more like our historical Alexander the great than the huge steam spewing whitchamacallit from the previous FF games.

If he is anything like Alexander from Reign: the Conqueror then I would be frightened to summon him.

Super-bad-ass who destroyed all creation. It was a really awesome/weird show. It played on Adult Swim like two years ago.

I think it is about time a summoner could summon a dragon or wyvern.
