    The Dalmatica is back again...

The only time that a Dalmatica is useful is when you are not casting and not resting. If you are casting, your body slot can give you a boost to enfeebling (Warlock's Tabard, Warlock's Tabbard+1), speed up casting refresh or haste or cures (Duelist's Tabard), improve your magical accuracy a tiny little bit (Chaustable), improve Aspir and Stun (Nashira Manteel) or improve the power of your nukes (Errant Houppelande, Crimson Scale Mail). If you are resting, Errant Houppelande or Warlock's Tabard+1 will give back more MP. (5 MP per 10 seconds versus 3.3MP from Dalmatica.)

If you are really anal about it like myself at times. You can rest with V Cloak or Dalmatica for 2-3 mp, then switch to Errants for the actual "tick" and still get the +5mph. That gives you 7-8mp per tick!!... ^^; yeah..

    ...the command is /wait 15

As far as septimus' post, the big "if" is if you have the Duelist's Tabard in the first place. If you're including AF2's then I would say Dalmatica is practically required since your Duelist's Chapeau is already giving you 1mp/tick. You have all that so I guess you can make that statement.

Regardless, I got Dalm and make very good use of it, and it's a notable improvement over just having a vermy. If other RDM's don't then dunno what to tell you.

It maybe over rated by some hey, it's still nice to have, there are so many situations and gear changes a rdm goes through the best thing is to carry the ones you need and change according to the situation.

There is a little thing called macro's, get to know them and love them, after every spell i cast i go right back to wearing my spiffy dalm, getting 8mp a tick in the tank pt as rdm is nicer then i can discribe. Not only can i refresh/haste/debuff/stun but now i can also help cure alot more then i used to be able too, and with my -enmity gear i rarely ever pull hate.

Dalm+af2 hat is the way to go as rdm. Try it out (if you can) then tell me how its useless.

You could always change your rest macro (since I'm sure most gear/macro whores like myself have one) to include a /wait 19 (i'm fairly sure wait 19 is the correct ammount of time, but it may be 15) before you actually switch to any +hMP bodypiece, to get more effect out of the Dalm. Minor difference, but it has its use.

Moreover, it is especially useful if you have a macro that switches you to refresh gear (like the one you see Avesta use in all his videos) whenever u arent nuking (or maybe even during nukes when its more important for you to be regening mp for a longer fight then adding dmg for a shorter one), enfeebling (or during when you are casting enfeebles on a mob where the difference isn't likely to make a greater difference in the outcome then continued refresh). Same for speeded up casting and magical accuracy and improved dark magic. Yes, each one of those items will make each effect slightly stronger or quicker or whatever... but sometimes its more useful to have excess refresh. It really does add up over time, even if its not a universal bodypiece (then again, there really never is a universal bodypiece, at least for RDM. Everything is better then something else for a different aspect.)

you do /wait 15 because /wait timer is very, very unreliable. /wait 15 ensures that the errant stuff is in before the first tick (I macro in black cloak, then switch to petasos and errant.

this coming from a Bard and Smn though, so I have yet to experience dalm on rdm and take my opinion lightly .

for the bard aspect of it, i would use it nearly the same way i describe using it on rdm. Only thing is, I also wear it 100% during most songs CHR doesnt affect the strength of debuffs (from my testing), and though skill in large ammounts may, the minor +3 you will find for wind instruments (minstrels coat, wind only one that matters - elegy) is hardly noticeable enough to warrant losing the dalm slot. With enough other MP equipment and -emnity, you can so easily get away with being one of the main healers for small events, it becomes really useful.

For smn, its not really better then other options, since the YY robe patch at least - it really doesnt have much of a place, if at all, at the top of a SMNs EQ list, unless they already have one and dont want to get a YY robe at the moment (myself). Before the patch, it had its place as piece of gear to switch in when you didnt have an avatar out (or did, doesnt really make a difference, just not during BPs), so you could also have a hat and extra mp.

AscendantSky first killed Tiamat in late October 2004. I think they killed it a second time before WoW came out, then their ls nearly fell apart. I think PV first killed it in January 2005, they would have killed it sooner if they hadn't accidentally called for help on it like twice =)

First attempt was about 6 hours long with rng's as our only real source of dmg. Got it to about 5% before we just couldnt handle how hard/fast it was hitting and with rng's as the main dmg it used tp a ton. I think we would have killed it if we trained the courses from the start, our whole add alliance wiped to them and we were pretty much playing catch up from then on out.

The call for helped tiamat was the time we got it to 1% maybe a week before our first kill.
