Lets go xp in sea, but first, lets review sea mob TP attacks:

Aerns: unstunnable AOE attack that does: stun, a strong defense down, as well as a decent amount of damage. They also got that Dissverment, which I think is a 6hit attack, lovely. Top that off onto the fact that the mnk and ninja aerns completely rape tanks.

Ghrah: they possess a magic def bonus trait, which knocks off a good 15-20% of all magic damage. But that's not all: their TP attacks ignore utsusemi, as well as their instant Self-Destruct. FUN !!!!!

Zdei: retarded defense, unless its just the fact they resist piercing dmg. but lets add onto the fact that their most common TP attack is an UNDISPELLABLE ICE SPIKES. Brilliant.

Having said that, LETS GO TAKE A STANDARD PT AND XP IN SEA !!!!

standard exp pt's work fine in sea.. in fact i level'd from 68-75 recently there.. just takes some creativity and time to find out the how when where what of PTs there... and not look up on some website the exact spot to exp that someone else had to figure out 3 yrs ago

I don't recall the aern AOE stun doing defense down. And I believe Dissverment is a 4 hit attack, although I may be wrong on that. And the mnk aerns don't seem to be so bad with paladins, although I don't recall how the ninja aerns do.

Grahs are very squishy to melee attacks and only one of their specials goes completely through utsusemi(sickle slash). Self-destruct is very rare.

    Zdei's just suck.

self destruct is easily stunnable also..

aern's are the only ones w/ real bad tp moves... but still very doable.

    disseverment - 4hit + poison
    aoe stun - defense down
aurarol wind - cone aoe + silence
glacial spike - cone aoe + paralyze
Mnk has kick atk's and spinning aoe tp move.
drg has wyvern and petrify lance TP move.

yah they are bad tp moves, but nothing that a normal pt cant handle. (read: tank, 1-2 melee, and some combination of blm rdm brd whm)

I consider an undispellable Ice Spikes a very very destructive TP attack.

That Ghrah Self-Destruct is very VERY tough to stun. The only way you can stun it really is if you've got 110% of your attention focusing on picking out that JA.

Nynja, I've helped out with the Grand Palace of Hu'xzoi escort mission 6 times now(soon to be 7). I have only seen self-destruct happen 4 times total out of all of those runs, and 3 of them happened at low enough hp so that it wasn't really a concern.

    I gave up and am currently levelling war so I can actually get some merit points, but being forced to do ENMs and escort quests to maintain my buffer irks the hell out of me. Everyone wants paladins when it's time to tank that HNM or dynamis, but exp or merit party? {Paladin}{No thanks.}

By the way, paladins are fantastic as DDs in KRT. Give it a try sometime, assuming they have capped staff and at least reasonable damage dealing gear, pld can deal more dmg/time than many jobs. 120-160/hit, crits for 250+, retribution for 600~, spirit taker for virtually unlimited mp, there are a lot of up-sides to inviting a pld to bones parties... too bad the only people who've given it a chance are ls members. I've done it, it works.

I apologize for the rampant sidetracking of the thread, just struck a nerve there.

I've exped with PLD in KRT quite a bit this way (having them use DD gear, etc)... i wouldn't say they're "fantastic" but they're certainly on par with other non-mnk DD's in KRT.

What kind of ppl nowadays say nin tank only? @@. I figured typical melee favored pld so they don't have to worry about pulling hate from your average nin.

    Same goes for blm

A whm that favors nin over pld cause he doesn't have to heal as much or pay much attention is a pt/xp leech and just damn lazy.

imo the only ppl that can be picky with pld tanks are main healing smns, spamming regen1 and cure3 isn't fun.

nin tanks are "thought" to have faster xp per hour, trust me, get pld to lvl 73 and see what happens to invites, up to lvl 73 you think about putting your flag up and you got an invite, 73+ you basically have to hold a persons daughter at gunpoint to get them to party with you

why would you invite a pld over a nin for meripo?

A nin can put up comparable to a drk in xp at 75, without sacrificing any ablity to tank.

A pld can be a gimp thf in terms of dmg by going all out DD, sacrificing his/her ablity to tank, AND requires more MP to keep up.

I'm not being an asshole, that's just the cold hard facts. Speaking from a blm point of view, I like plds alot. But there's no use for them on VT enemies.

    Yeah no shit.

The thing is in Burn PTs a NIN can go all DD gear (Haub/Shura Togi, Bandomusha Kote, ect..) and still retain the ablity to tank decently while doing similar numebrs to a decently equpied WAR. All DD Gear on a PLD will hold hate fine, but to do decent numbers which helps hold hate but you will lose alot of DEF, VIT and HP.

I know on my server its not very easy to get a PT LFG, I usually try to start one. Statue camps in sky are one of the few if only I have heard people say they will take a good PLD over a good NIN. Even then, some people just have that mind set of burn PTs or NIN tank only.

My complaint is make VIT work like all the other stats for other jobs. There is something wrong when I can get 130+ VIT and 700+ DEF and still get hit for over 100 by EXP statues.

No, It's called...waiting and finding a party..or making a party yourself, honestly it's not that hard..especially at level 75 or ofcourse as you said, party with linkshell members.

if you want to complain about lack of merit zones, i'm right there with you.

but a lack of merit zones does not justify making mobs that you can get braindead XP on.

make Sea more accessible, make the regular mobs in there not such a pain to kill for a standard setup. has anyone tried a Rampage Party running through Ru'Hmet?

again lack of XP zones does not equal give me brain dead XP somewhere. your logic is messed up, lack of XP zones leads to give me more viable XP zones. two seperate issues that you're too thick-headed to see.

they fixed one legitamite problem and left the big gapping hole that has always been there.

its not that they're a pain...
aura statues are a pain with AOE attacks that strip utsu and do bind / stun.
Skeleton's are a pain with AOE that strips utsu and causes blindness / HP drain.

mobs in sea are fucking retardedly stupid as to how their JA's are compared to other mobs in Vana'Diel.
I'd rather xp on Malboro instead of shit up in sea.
