The only exception was the Ranger, not just because of the way people play and the amount of money they put into it, but also the job itself had a fundamental attack advantage, and that's what we most recently tried to fix. But in general we don't want to make any job weaker except for DRG they can STFU NOOB.
Is that Bahamat on the playonline page? I know the left is Diablos which makes me shudder to think they might put in Dynamis-Pso X'ja or some shit with Diablos as the boss who would make DL and Absolute Virtue look gimp.

Who knows but yeah I think we'll fight Bahamut and somehow he could become a summon.

Dynamis Buburimu, Qufim, Tavnazia, Valkurm have all been in the dat's awhile. If they are going to activate a new Dynamis one would assume that they would do these first. The content for the zones is essentially empty at this time.

Lower Promvyion, Oh'hpat Obelisk and The Last Stand were all 3 added recently... These actually have some content loaded in them, it will be curious if we can see more added in updates before the big update.

i kinda like the way 1up.com does their interviews. A lot of the times, they ask questions that really are interesting to end-game players unlike other websites where they ask questions without really ever playing the game.

some comment on them not looking to make more nerfs is good. but eventually there will be still be some, there always has to be in MMOs. especially if they intend to make improvements.

saying there are still no plans to increase the level cap is good, it's really unnecessary at this point.

confirmation of more than just BLU in the new expansion is good.

Elemental Mage would be Geomancer which in other games operate differently than BLMs do, i'm not sure how it would be implemented in FFXI. based on day, weather or terrain are all too complicated to grind in an XP PT or be reliable in a 2+ hour HNM fight.

Phoenix, Diablos and Bahamut are the obvious choices for new avatars from CoP though i really doubt we would get Bahamut without getting all 3, more likely i see getting just Phoenix and Diablos.

Cry me a goddamned river. This interview was easy to read, to the point, and actually addressed issues that the end-game community cares about. What more do you want? Anyway...

Definitely glad to see BLMs aren't getting nerfed... I just want to know how the dev team beat absolute virtue...

Actually, Lower Promyvion was renamed to Apollyon and Ou'Hpat Obelisk was renamed to Temenos. The Last Stand has been kicking around in the dat files for a couple of years now, if I remember correctly it's in the Zilart folder.

Never heard of The Last Stand before. Sounds like some sort of garrison-esque defend the city type instance zone.

I think the interview reveals a couple of things:

    1. At least 3 new jobs will be introduced. In the interview it said he couldn't say how many, but Blue Mage wasn't the only one. How easy would it be to say 1 more job is coming out besides Blue Mage. Which leaves me to believe at least 3 since he left it so open-ended.

    2. New Avatar(s). He hints that CoP isn't over. This leads me to believe the new Avatar(s) will be released in a patch prior to the expansion.

    3. No more game-altering nerfs like the RNG one. Game altering as in all the crying and quitting and prices dropping tremendously etc etc.

    4. The release date for the new Expansion is approximately 5/15/06. I say this because RoZ was released when FFXI came to PS2. CoP was released when FFXI was released in EU. So I am assuming ToA will be released when FFXI hits XBox360 which is 5/15/06 according to that interview.

Just what I interpreted from the interview.

Am I the only one who noticed this?

1UP: I'm sure you can't be specific, but is Blue Mage the only job you plan to add to Treasures, or do you plan to add others and/or Summons?

HT: I can't say how many new jobs, but Blue Mage is not the only one. And when you say that new summons were not implemented in Chains of Promathia, you're assuming that Chains of Promathia is already finished... [laughs]

Well with RotZ they released three more jobs, I was assuming that three more would be released with ToAU, but we all know what assuming does...

I would still like to see them balance the jobs that are out now but oh well.

1UP: You've recently begun to investigate ways to reduce the frequency of MPKs, which usually happen in the spots of valuable item drops from specific NMs, or at HNM locations where multiple high level Linkshells could be competing for the same God. Have you ever thought of instancing some of these enclosed battles (like Kirin or something), like in a BC?

HT: It just so happens that for the Notorious Monsters you've mentioned here, we would like to keep these monsters spawning in the field (as opposed to relegating them to an instanced battle) with the possibilty of them being taken by other parties that the first alliance has somehow lost the attack-lock. Maintaining that system as it is now in the field, we balanced it out from the very beginning to have battle circles, or battlefields where you'd use beastmen seals to enter and only your party to attack and get whatever drops. From the beginning we hoped the balance between the NMs and number of NMs and the beasts available in BCNMs would be a balance. MPK is a problem and the reason we can't instantly tweak something for what might seem like an easy fix for MPK, is that it has more to do with some things that need to be adjusted outside of what the dev team has control over. This is also a customer service issue that takes a longer time to coordinate and work out. We would consider even a more systemic or fundamental system-wide change if we knew this would help decrease the MPK problem; this is something the dev team itself could work on. If NM pops become all instanced in the field, I think you'd lose one of those feelings of playing an MMO, and that is why there are constantly people around you and that's unfortunate, so please keep your auto-lock on.
Did he just say that they intended for KS to happen?

When i read this line, my eyes did this...

What I prefer to think of as more important phrasing is that we are not using the 360 to its full potential, and what we meant to do is add something as completely as powerful as the Windows version but on a different platform...although it is sad to not use the machine to its full potential, with the time it would take to accomplish this, the company would already be on to investing in its next major online game

They are looking at this game as a publicly traded company would and not a company that makes games for it's users.

translation, "We wouldn't invest that kind of time if it wouldn't make us money". I just dont like that frame of mind. although i completely understand it....

I see the next major development they will do past he expansion, would be a new gen online game. Sundi hinted to that as well. If they are going to redesign the engine... why not take this game's base as a concept, and make a new online game service? I'm guessing that in 6-18 months we'll hear of a new SE mmo product.

Elemental Mage would probably refer to the Geomancer that I've seen rumors being thrown around regarding.
