thf is also excellent hate control as well with the Assassin job trait and/or SA hide. If thieves want to be zomg damage dealers then they should level up a pure damage job. Making thf do as much damage as a war or mnk or whatever would be pretty unbalanced because they have other utility.

Too many people look at the damage output of the different jobs and cry about game imbalances. You can't just compare one aspect and expect them to be the same, you have to consider the whole package.

So then how does thf compare to samurai? lets look at it, higher WS dmg, same hate control thing with thf sub, and oh, they get TP quicker.

One thing I don't understand is why don't more thieves sub warrior for xp parties if they want higher weapon skill damage? I hear many thieves complain about dark knights stealing their party spot, but thief TP gain is a lot higher then DRK tp gain. Sub warrior and the TP gain shouldn't fall below the TP gain of a DRK/THF.

I only sub ninja because parties make me, and well, I can't say no to invites just because they won't let me use a better subjob

It's not the same hate control. If you're fighting wyrms the sam doesn't get SA, only a gimped TA that adds no damage. thf doesn't have to worry about that problem at Fafnir or CoP wyrms.

Again, look at the whole picture. Not just exp parties. You want a quick fix but it's not that easy. SE has to consider all aspects of the game before making a balance change.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with hate control because you don't have a tank at the back of Tiamat/Jorg do you?

    1000 SA Gekko > 400 SA Shark
    500 TA Gekko > 300 TA Shark

I leveled my Warrior Subjob to 37 so that I could use that as a subjob because I like it more during Experience Parties, but parties will only let Thieves use NIN subjob, because Thief usually pulls, 1 less thing the Mages have to worry about I guess, I used to ask what subjob parties wanted me to use, but I just stopped asking because it was always NIN, they didn't want me using WAR

    1000 SA Gekko > 400 SA Shark
    500 TA Gekko > 300 TA Shark
Again, your original comment has nothing to do with anything, it's completely non-sequitter to the point, your latest post doesn't make it any more on-topic.

    1000 SA Gekko > 400 SA Shark
This has nothing to do with the topic.

    500 TA Gekko > 300 TA Shark
You might have a point here. Personally I don't know how accurate those numbers are, I filter out damage. I have a bit of trouble believing a thf using attack food and subbing war for berserk would only do 300 dmg, but whatever.

You're still conveniently dodging the fact that a thf can use both SA and TA at the same time on all wyrms. And sams can't even use SA at all on Faf/Nid.

Can't you use Hide and do SA from anywhere? Granted, that's only like every 5 minutes but it's better than nothing...
