I've done SE before, but forgot which mobs are immune to what damage types, exactly. Anyone care to refresh my memory? I think it was:

    Slimes - immune to H2H
    Crabs - immune to slashing
..and I forget the rest. I'll have to pay more attention next time.

I'm wondering if SMN could solo any of it, but I'd have to take care with what mobs I fight, and how I fight them.

    SE Apollyon

Khamsin, here's info from SE Apollyon I posted on my LS website. Hope it's useful:

    Apollyon SE Information

While doing this run today, we noticed mobs on each floor are completely immune to different types of weapons (slashing, blunt, and piercing). Our best guess is two weapon types will work ok on a mob, and the remaining weapon type won't.

    1st floor - Slimes
Both slashing and piercing type of weapons did incredible damage to these mobs. I speculate they might be immune to blunt weapons, but we didn't try to see.

    2nd floor - Crabs
Piercing weapons did good damage, immune to slashing. Assuming blunt weapons work on them too, again we didn't try.

    3rd floor - Skeletons
Slashing and blunt weapons to damage them, immune to piercing weapons.
On this floor is where we noticed the mobs are only immune to one weapon type, since at first I was using maneater+joyeuse, and the joyeuse swings were hitting for 0's. Then I switched to maneater+warp cudgel (lol) and both weapons did ok damage.

    4th floor - Weapons
All weapon types inflict damage here, but they are immune to magic.

In conclusion, it should be simple to clear entire zone with a single, balanced party, and with melees that have more than just one type of weapon so mobs can be mowed down fast.

Grumpy additional note: Each floor has 9 mobs in addition to the Boss. Killing 3 mobs will spawn the time extension crate, another 3 mob will spawn the hp/mp/ability recover crate. Killing the last 3 mobs will enable the coins/reward crate spawn from the boss. The exception is the last floor, where there are no time extend or hp/mp/ability crate. Expect this to be around a low 40-ish coin dropping area. Mobs only rarely drop 1 coin until the last floor's weapon mobs, which usually drops 2 coins a piece.

When we did it, we had MNKs, WARs, and a SAM/RNG. I can confirm the Slimes are immune to blunt (the MNKs were hitting for all 0's). I can also confirming that blunt works on crabs (the MNKs were hitting for good damage, but my woody/juggy hit for all 0's.. I need a ridill or joyeuse ; ;)

I also noticed the chests spawned in the same area. We were opening them before the next one spawned (i.e. open time when it spawns, save hp/mp chest until last mob, open it, then kill last mob, then open the item chest). If we hadn't been opening each chest before the next popped, would we have lost it?

And does anyone know if the pot floor in Apollyon NE contains any item chests at all?

it really varies by the area... like Apollyon SE which requires a variaty of attack types would be quite difficult if you can't pull out at least 2 or 3 people to specialize in each attack type needed for the the bosses of every floor

on the other hand, some areas which people had first thought difficult may not be so at all. my own team has beaten Apo NW with 6 people (killing both the dragon and KB but skipping the turtle) and Tem N with 7...
whats our setup you ask? it should be easy to guess lol

hint: the same party would probably lose horribly at last floor Apo SE

edit: maybe a rampage-merit-PT sort of setup would work well in small numbers in Apo SE? i don't know many wars to try that one out

Just FYI, Ridill is slashing (Actually all swords are except for Joyeuse, although Joyeuse is still slashing on WS).

there's an item chest on all the floors (includnig the one for winning the zone)

on the first floor, there's two larger mandies and the goobbue, one will pop a chest other opens the door.

second, one of the four larger birds drops the item chest

third, one of the larger pots or the two dolls drops it

    fourth, large monkey drops it

Just got out of Apollyon SE solo as rdm/nin, heres some info for anyone else who wants to try it.

First off, it's all slimes, but we knew this already. There were seven slimes total. The two in the front are the two I killed (kite/nuke) the first one dropped 1 ancient beastcoin, the second spawned an extension chest.

After the extension I had 17 mins left. Thinking it might be like the other Apolyon I went to look around the zone for any chests, but there wasnt any. The only way to get chests here is to kill the slimes.

After these slimes was a group of two slimes, well it may be a group, no idea if they link or not, but I wasnt about to test it. Then behind those 2 was the boss. Off to the left was another group of two slimes who I also was not touching for fear of link.

So I pulled the boss. He had roughly around 75% more hp than the 2 previous slimes. He took me till the very last minute to beat and didnt drop a thing. Simply opened up the next floor.

Looking back, it would probably be a wiser choice to sub blm and make crazy liberal use of blink(ugh). Out of all my casts only 1 bind, 1 gravity, and 2 sleeps were resisted. During the run I used one Vile elixir+1 and got one coin so it was more about the experience XD

Hopefully someone else can give input on which mob dropped their treasure chest, with any luck its a viable pull solo. The boss is worthless to kill soro unless you can kill a little faster than I and clear the zone and move to crabs heh.

Side note, one nuke was half resisted and 1 was partial resisted. This is as rdm with capped elemental merits, af1 hat, druids slops, elemental earring and torque. Half the time Ugg. pendant was on for nukes and still barely any resists. If youre a rdm just keep in mind with that much ele skill, there were still resists.

Did my 4th solo run on NIN/WAR today and got 6 more coins + BLM + RDM material (/toss >>

First Floor of SE goes like this:

    Kill 2 slime
    > Extension Chest
    Kill 2 more slime
    > HP MP Chest
    Kill 4 more slime
    > Loot Chests (1 material 5 coins or 2 material 4 coins)

Boss just activates portal and is no related to chests

So in order to make the run really worth it you have to figure out a way to kill all 8 minor slimes

Doh, wasn't thinking when I said that.

    But I still need a Ridill and/or a Joyeuse.

I wasn't able to attend the first NE run that my Limbus group did, but I was there for the second. They wanted to save time and not bother killing everything on that floor because they claimed it had no item chest like the other floors. I suggested maybe a doll or pot dropped it, and they said they cleared the entire floor last time they did NE and didn't find a chest. Maybe they just missed it.

No, but I would have stolen it and made a hugely profitable Crimson Jelly out of it.

Most of the synth materials from chests seem to be items that are used in AF+1 upgrades though. Food items coming from chests is just strange.

Unless they are going to start making relic food. (That sounds unappealing, 300 year old pies and sushi.)
