Still won't change much, even with the changes DRG still gonna be useless in endgame lol.
What I'd like to see is some kind of change in weapon and weapon skill damage, but i suppose this is a step in the right direction.
woo hoo @ the return of gogodavi
I just don't think Dragoon can ever be fixed because of the Wyvern. If you give them a good weapon skill and access to a Haubergeon their core damage will be on par with other jobs but the Wyvern will make them overpowered. If you take away the Wyvern to balance that out you make it just another melee job and kill what Dragoon is. Keeping what Dragoon is now and messing with the Wyvern won't change the only numbers most players see, namely the low damage and low WS ones, so their invites aren't going to go up changing nothing for them.Originally Posted by Daahan
When I read this I didn't think "OMG I'M GONNA START INVITING DRAGOONS!" I just laughed. Who are they kidding when they say they don't think Dragoon is weak? Good job giving Wyverns subtle blow too, now if only your average player actually understood it Dragoon's may make a tiny bit of progress.
I'm sorry but stats in FFXI help in such small amounts, simply having access to a body piece like a Haubergon isn't going to change game balance at all. Giving DRGs a good WS along with a Wyvern will make them on par with other jobs, not overpowered (probably still underpowered comapred to what you can do at 75.) How are you going to compare a 500+ Delay lance plus a pet dog to Ridill WARs, Destroyer MNKs, Hagun SAMs, E-bow RNGs, Fudo/Senj NINs, or manaburning BLMs.If you give them a good weapon skill and access to a Haubergeon their core damage will be on par with other jobs but the Wyvern will make them overpowered.
I think more people would play drg if they weren't a walking fashion disaster.
Sure you'll see the rare DRG in barone body/af2 that looks nice, but most are sporting assault jerkin for the rest of their lives, along with some bizaare mismatching of armor in other slots >.> I think the narrow variety in what drg wears kills some of the job appeal.
Some stuff like crimson/blood would be nice on a drg/magesub due to resists/hp/mp but seriously what ls is going to award that stuff to a drg main
Maybe i'm the only one that cares about not looking silly![]()
ohhh cool, now i can spread peanut butter on my balls 3 times in an hour instead of once every 2, for my buster to lick off :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
New drg 2hr will be like Absolute virtueInstant cast meteor ftw... j/k..

From what I understand, the two hour ability is still Call Wyvern, it's just being changed to a 20 minute recast.

I use a parser when I exp, I know who is doing the most dmg. I've gotten plenty of merits too, currently at 49, look at the sig.
lol gay
they noticed that i quit, so then they decide to improve drg a little

well I'm not saying you can compete with these, but your wyvern is a form of duel weild I think the fact the wyvern is getting subtle blow is simalar to that. I also think the new HQ lance, "Tritons Lance" is hands down the best DoT 2hand weapon in the game. I still feel it would be hard to compete but I'd like to see a parcer.
Speaking on balance, and dragoons being underpowered, I think what your forgetting is party vs. solo. If a dragoon could put up mnk/war/rng numbers and get healing breath while solo, that would be insane, the survivability of drgs solo as it stands now, is only behind the purest of solo jobs (NIN,BST,THF, RDM)
This reminds me of a thread of a rdm bemoaning his inablity to throw down good damage in a XP party, which to me was silly, if a rdm could throw down DD numbers in XP can you imagine what they would be able to solo??? anyway yeah, drg is underpowered vs. IT because of what it can do alone.
A RDM can throw down good numbers in EXP PT, stack a lot of MAB and INT gear and watch...
Unless Triton's Lance has ocassionally attacks 2-3 times, it's shit. Subtle blow is a joke, the addition of it to a Wyvern helps the job class in no way since mobs still randomly use TP anywhere from 100%-300%. How well a job is solo is meaningless for the two major end game activities: merit point PTs, and HNMs. NIN can solo better than any DRG could. I want to see a DRG go 1on1 with a VT mob and live...

Using MP, not through mele, which... misses the point

Hello?? did you miss the part about wyvern being a form of DW or me saying it's the best Dot 2hand?? so yes a dragoon is "occasionally attacking twice"(wyvern is belived to have your weapons Damage rating halved) and no it does not do Dot of certian swords.
And solo on ninja and tell me subtle blow bonuses don't make a diffrence. I don't know you mabye your a ninja and you don't feel that way, but I sure do.
