Exactly what I'm saying, minus the WoW sucks part (although it's mind-numbingly easy for the vast majority of the game, the PVP makes it entertaining like Tekken). When you play a game to such a ludicrious extent that many of the FFXI-bashers have, it's more than a little bit ridiculous to go on saying it sucks. You play too much, GTFO.

If you want to play WoW don't be a groupie and follow the "in crowd", start on any server.

If it's a new server everyone is getting on it to be the 1st to hit lvl 60 so people are trying to stay on, but damn, I seen atleast 15 NEW WoW servers made while I have been playing, let's see.... Hmm FFXI has doen that, 1 time? They will do it agian for XBOX and at them most 4 new servers, DAMN THAT MANY PEOPLE HUH?! Nope, give it up kid your fightin a lost cause.

So having to leave your guild and go to a different server is an okay solution to not being able to even log into WoW, but not being able to use the AH for half an hour every few months (if you're even in town and care) will kill FFXI? Seriously, are you on crack?

This has been said before, but:

WoW's graphics may appear cartoony and shit to you, but try playing the damn game. The world is a HELL of a lot more immersive then FFXI. You go into a cavern, sound echoes like you were actually IN the damn cavern. Some of the environments just look absolutely amazing.

I'm not saying which game is better, I still play both, but I will say the only reason I haven't quit FFXI is I have friends that I want to keep playing with.. I just play WoW casually on the side.

What kind of idiocy does it take to upgrade a sword for a pld and expect it to be anything but just ok?

there were 2 major factors to upgrading Excalibur.

#1 it was suppose to turn a PLD into a damage dealer.

#2 it was suppose to take turn an alliance spot that did no damage, into an alliance spot that does damage which in turn would make fights shorter.

the first one is true, Excalibur outdamages Summoners on Wyrms, it lets a PLD/NIN keep up with MNKs and WAR/NINs in Merit PTs.

the second part though did not happen, the bulk of the damage is from the added effect, added effect which generates little to no hate. so in order to have Excalibur in the alliance, you have to fit it into a DD spot, and you still need another tank.

from people who do have Bravura, it doesn't sound like it's all cracked up to be. the only thing that is a sure thing is Relic Horn.

You make some good points, but you have yet to refute the complaints about ffxi endgame. Give the cop wyrms good loot, give jailers reasonable loot and make the popping process less of a hassle and you solve the biggest complaint about ffxi on these boards: that there's no worthy new endgame content worth doing. You've got some seriously undeniable problems when people are spending more time doing old content than new content. Is it really that hard for the developers to make new content at least on par with old content?

By the time I get done with one thing in FFXI, there's always something else to do. Did you ever think that maybe SE is catering to people like me rather then people like you who finish off any new quest/mission/ect... the moment the game comes back online?

It's like people asking for Diablo 3, why would Blizzard release a game that is going to steal players from WoW before WoW is on the decline or close to the end of its lifecycle. No Blizzard game in my recent memory has ever had cutting edge graphics. I don't see why people make such a big deal out of this as if Blizzard titles usually do.

I've already given my opinion on WoW and very good reasons why I do not play. I also merely said that I don't have time to max out my character in the amount of time it took BG members.

All conjecture. We only have a small idea of what the new expansion will bring to the table. New jobs, new areas, new monsters, sounds pretty good to me so far. Sounds like what the player base wanted... I for one can't wait to see the other jobs they will introduce.

There's a real simple solution for that, listen carefully now; DON'T START A CHARACTER ON A FULL SERVER.
Now, if you made a character on a server that got full, there are realm-to-realm transfers for those.
I, for one, have never experienced queues in WoW. Well, except Battleground queues. Damn those.

The only reason I was playing WoW, was because I had friends on the server. MMO's without friends playing with you = pointless in my eyes.

So I tried Azrathsnwhatever, it had a 120 minute cue. Couldnt go there. Then I tried another friend's server.

Yay. 202 minute que, and I had already been waiting for 40mins prior to that. At the end, I had to choose some empty server where I knew nobody, and start there. I played for a bit , but it got boring really fast and just went back to FFXI again.

There's no reason to post the screens, but the subject is a little one-sided when you want to compare a PS2 screenshot to a PC version of the game, so I'll post PC version of FFXI for a real comparison.

Here's my SS's of WoW from my PC with the same card as the later 2 SS's of the above screenies.

My PC makes WoW look better than other Screenshots I saw in this topic, but still in my eyes they're not amazingly better as people say. But, pictures dont do it justice, you have to play WoW to see it's fluidity(playing at 60 fps WoW as opposed to 30 in FFXI), and the hardware shading that's possible with WoW and not possible with Windows FFXI(due to lack of dev support). However I still prefer the FFXI environments and characters, etc.

WoW has it's own style, than FFXI ,what I noticed is WoW tends to use as much colour as they can, more cartoony eye-catching colours, while FFXI tends to use a more natural pallette.

I found 1-60 in WoW to be fun, but the endgame blew. Ragnaros, the only major raid boss back then, was a 3minute "QUICK HIT HIM REALLY HARD" fest. Oh yeah, he popped some Sons of Flames once during the fight. You had to hit them really hard quick too.

All the instances were the same as this pretty much.
As a company, Blizz was 100x worse than SE. They had 3x the amount of downtime, massive queues to get in any half-decent server, major lag (you couldnt even loot shit safely for a month without risking crashing out), and they were FULL of empty promises. Battlegrounds were super hyped, and postoned for a total of EIGHT months, before being released.

Guess what happened with Battlegrounds? You waited an hour to get in, and fought for 20min. And I was on the horde, which had a lower population than Alliance. I don't even want to know how long those poor bastards had to wait.
