Seriously I do find it funny how honoring your whiteness is frowned upon and no I am not racist. To say Black people only have one culture isn't right either. I'm not asking for white history month because that would be stupid but you know there are award shows, and a million things that it seems only minorities can do because otherwise it is racist. In reality both are stupid, what I really mean is there shouldn't be a black history month we should just do it right and include both in our school systems. We shouldn't have essence awards or anything of the sort, making race specific events just perpetuates an issue of race, we can be equal or we can be different but you gotta pick one. I pick equal.

I've never been big on affirmative action or anything of the sort too, again not racially motivated but it gives people opportunity to throw the race card around like it's nothing. You won't hire me because I'm not white and Ill make a big deal about it so that your pressured into hiring me. I had someone say that to me once and then I told them, I guess you don't come here often because half the people working here aren't white. I hate when people play the race card as a form of guilt trip, and unfortunately some people do. I think the better man(or woman) should always get the job. If that person is of a minority then power to them, screw the white guy... it works both ways.

I dunno if all this brands me as a racist to some people. Personally I think the word racism gets tossed around too liberally that it's beginning to lose it's meaning. Those books though are a little on the racist side but if nobody is making that big a deal about it then maybe they are just doing the right thing and ignoring it... making a big fuss would only sell more copies of them.

are but two of the hundreds of examples of kanji used for foreign countries in Japanese. Almost 100% of the time they will use katakana on a world map because it's just easier to remember and learn the names that way.

I'd have to agree that if we had never oppressed other cultures there wouldn't have ever been a need for affirmative action. That being said, affirmative action is bullshit and schools/companies should obviously only have to accept the most qualified who apply.

Very true. There will always be racism no matter the circumstances. However, I can understand the racism in the United States to be much less then in Japan. Japan is full of Japanese. They don't have the melting pot of nationalities in a single nation. Yeah, they get tourists, exchange students, and some people that go there to work, it's no where near as diverse as it is in North America. We'll consider them racists for such comments, but in the views of the Japanese, they'll view it as a common comment.

Wanting to protect one group, and doing so, is great.. but not at the cost of hurting others. There are better ways to deal with it than screwing other ppl.
