reading what to do and putting it into practice are two completely different things, just because you can look up 6 thousand different strats doesnt mean you are gonna walk all over nidhogg, fafnir, vrta, tiamat, or whoever, if its your first time in your gonna have butterflys and not be 100% on your game cause you are nervous, the only way to get better is to get your hands dirty, and if that means taking 30-40 people and spike flailing/claiming darters/wiping to within an inch of your ls's life, then fine, you will never learn from someone elses experience like you will from your own

just make sure your LS is ready to kill shit, tell people the strategy, and pray to god you dont have any idiots in your alliance.

Conversely, killing Genbu and Suzaku 30 times til you have it just right and decide to take on Byakko and Seiryu is gonna result in people leaving the shell because they want bigger and better things and feel that the LS is in a rut.

You have to try to get out of your comfort zone to get better, in real life and in a game. And if you just keep killing what you know you can kill and not trying to kill things you're not positive on, you'll never kill a Sabotender Bailerina, let alone Fafnir.

i agree with this shit about elitism but im not being elitist about my statement, im stating that if you arent ready to kill something then you shouldnt waste the man hours camping it until you know the strategy for it.

I disagree with this, maybe this is what's wrong with the FFXI endgame community. Where is the sense of adventure? When SE creates new NMs someone has to pioneer a strategy for it. Until you actually experience something, you don't know what it's like. Without the actual experience it's hard to create a winning strategy. BG uses pld/nin tanks as part of their tanking strategy but most people I know would laugh their asses off if I suggested that they should use pld/nins.

my LS has done Dynamis - Beaucedine around 12-13 times, we've always gone for the win...and we've won a grand total of 3-4 times. every fucking time we get to angra someone always fucks it up, even after we win after 3-4 losses, someone else comes in and doesnt listen, then wipes the whole god damn alliance cause they say "im resting" during the pull. are we n00bs? no, but we have certain people who completely screw us over because they dont listen properly.

If you can't get people to listen then maybe your ls is "n00b." Kick those people out. People make mistakes, but that sounds overboard, especially since everyone knows the Dynamis - Beaucedine strat these days. If you continually show that you can't follow simple directions you have no place doing things that require an organized group. Clearing Beaucedine was actually a challenge back when no one had any information on it and the strat wasn't freely flowing around.

Yeah we did have deaths. We didn't have 50 members though. Or 40. Or 30. We had 5 or 6 PLDs who kept dying and when one died, we invited the next unweakened PLD.
