Then what about altering a job trait then? There have been CoP items that alter job traits of CoP bosses, such as lowering TP regen or even halting it.

I think just about all of those items were questable. And there's no mysterious items in .dat files that have unknown uses that could apply here that I'm aware of. Tiberion hit the nail on the head.

I dont think a single 'normal' job trait is dispellable in any form. in my opinion, 'normal' is basically anything we players can get too. Fast cast, double/triple attack, evasion boost traits, auto-regen, tpstore, etc... all things mobs can have but not a single one is dispellable thru anything we can do.

remember when vrtra was introduced like a year ago and everyone said it was impossible to kill it? then someone killed it with like 60 people and everyone else started trying. good linkshells are now able to kill it with around 30 people.

absolute virtue will be killed and is killable without any sort of special weapons the jailers drop. the reasoning you people have is like "you have to use suzaku's scythe and byakko's axe to kill kirin!" it doesn't work out. as more and more groups kill the jailer of love, more and more groups will get their shot at AV. given, due to the nature of how he spawns, it will longer for him to be killed after release than it did vrtra, and take longer before he's killed regularly and by smaller and smaller groups, but he will be killed and eventually will be farmed.

It takes several months of farming to get the pop items for AV. Then it won't even spawn all the time when you do kill JoL (which is much easier than AV and still takes 3+ hours and 30+ BLM.) No doubt it is as fucking broken as the rest of Sea and will have a 90% chance of not dropping anything when it is killed. NO ONE will farm that shit. Most LS I think aren't even bothereing with sea anymore. It's broken and needs to be fixed. You'd be lucky if a year of farming results in 4 kills of AV and 1 item dropping.

I gotta agree with Flux here. Except I don't think it's broken...I think it's exactly as SE intended. It's just a design flaw. Sure, Vrtra and Tiamat etc. were really hard at first and people swore they were impossible. But overtime people beat them. Why won't that happen with Sea? Because a) it's in a difficult to reach area and b) it is difficult to pop.

it was rumored that the maintenances that SE had this past week to "fix several issues" were to adjust AV, that could be the cause of why it didn't pop for the one LS that killed JoL inbetween the two maintenances. who knows, next time a LS kills JoL he could be alot easier.

I agree. I really don't want to have to have 40 BLMs going up to kill just one mob... That's not fun.

why not ?? thats what everyone does for every other mob...just 20 blm's instead of 40.

Alot of people have problems finishing Promyvions just for the simple reason that they are just too lazy or too impatient to make the right preparations, everything in CoP takes time and effort. They would rather hope that 3 SMN will give them an easy win than figuring out how the animas work and how to use them efficiently.
The 3 SMN strategy which is commonly used is actually less efficient than using a couple sets of animas (although not as time consuming), I've had 2 SMN who had their avatars slept through the entire duration of Astral Flow during the Holla spire fight.
Spending a little time and effort getting the animas will make these fights alot easier and will basically make the NMs just sit there and do nothing.
This might seem unrelated, but the 30+ BLM strategy just can't be the way it's intended to be done, I'm willing to guess that it was pure luck that actually got them the win.
The anima strategy was the way the Promyvions were intended to be beaten, but people found a more convenient and less time consuming way to do it, namely the 3 SMN "strategy".
I don't think that if my theory is in one way or another correct they will just sit there and do nothing, just that it will be doable without throwing every BLM on the server at them. I still think these fights will be long and grueling, but nowhere near the insanity we've seen this far.
This thread has made it to 4 pages now, but only one post has given any answers to my initial request, namely more info on the behavior and traits of the Jailers. I was hoping to get more info regarding this because I saw a vague pattern from the info I had available at that time, the theory was actually just an addition that I seriously considered leaving out just because of the responses I've gotten this far, but I included it to give you a reason as to why I was interested in learning more about the Jailers and also because I was hoping someone would be willing to try this out on some of the lower tier Jailers. If you were to try it out and it was unsuccessful you could just revert to the standard strategies and still (hopefully) win.

    Christ. Four pages.

    I'm willing to guess...

I don't think that if my theory...

I still think these fights will be...

I saw a vague pattern from the info I had available at that time...

I was hoping someone would be willing to try this...(edit: but not me obviously)

If you (emphasis added) were to try it out...

Used to be people could come to this forum and see first-hand information. Seems all that's just died lately.

First hand info on what? AV? nobody knows how to beat it, therefore they can only speculate.

For everything else, first hand info is readily available by search so really there is nothing to talk about anymore.

Maybe, but the problem with Vrtra was staying alive more than it was doing damage. Lots of people would try Vrtra straight up, do damage, flail, then were unable to recover. Kiting and summoners and a massive add clearing force turned out to be the answer. Absolute Virtue and Jailer of Love are different because of their exponentially higher regen.

It wasn't luck, it was the only way they could do enough damage to counter the regen.

I never used anima and I never used summoners either.
