So far it seems as if "usable" items (i.e. their name is yellow in your inventory, like coffer keys) will drop and be lost, whereas other items (like delkfutt key, fransisca, etc.) will just simply not drop.

Common examples of usable items (name is yellow) that drop and get lost:
    Coffer keys
    Mandy buds
    Spells

Common examples of other items (name is white) that do not drop at all if everyone has it:
    ENM60 JSE ammo
    Fransisca
    Testimonies

I've seen plenty of coffer keys, mandy buds, and rare spells drop and get lost, and there's screenshots of the keys above, so I don't think that really needs proving.

As for Fransisca, in my experience, it seems that, without fail, he *always* drops the axe if someone doesn't have it. He's never dropped when everyone had it, and always dropped if someone didn't have it. As for ENM60 JSE ammo, I know it isn't necessarily a common drop, but I've been doing ENM60 since it came out and have never again gotten the ammo since I got my first one. Could just be bad luck, but I think its because I already have it.

As for the testimonies, ever party in sky and get a RDM testimony every few fights until your entire party had them, then they just stopped dropping? Unless someone keeps dropping theirs, at least.

Keys, scrolls, lb items are all different then some items. Then again some items are diff then others.

As far as TH goes I believe what one person said that all a thf has to do is interact with the monster and TH is applied. Although Gilfinder works even if the thf disbands I think that the difference may be that TH to be put on the mob requires the thf to be present in the alliance at the time of death and having interacted once before that death. As for TH determining rolls I also believe it adds another virtual player per TH lvl. When a monster dies each person in the alliance at the time of death and that has interacted with the mob at least once but has not left the alliance gets an invisible roll on an item. Certain items may require more then one person to roll high enough to obtain an item (I.e. Ridill). The game checks to see if TH is present and awards the TH lvl with another roll.

Random Theory on TH and how it works

    Loot
-All Loot is /Random between Mob Vs PT
-Each Member in a PT /random's vs each item possible to drop.

-the rareness of a drop (%) defines the minimum /random will be.
-items that rarely drop have higher minimum's for example a insect wing's min /random on VE might be 100+ but the Emp pin might min at 500+

-this means everytime VE dies it will random both items with a chance of 100-999 on wing and 500-999 on pin.

    How TH works
-I think TH is a 10% raise in the min a thief can roll and 5% on what a thief pt members can roll (just a guess) -meaning a thief with TH can never roll less then a 100.

-TH2 is a seperate trait in job abilities so it must work differently. Unlike (Rdm fast cast which always shows one trait only and stacks)

-TH2 is imo a second Roll for the thief.

Thief AF2 and Thief Knife. both of these add to TH so I assume each is a stack on the % so as on example a Thief with TH4 kills VE

VE will random pin from 500-999
Thief will random from 300-999 and TH2 will roll again.

    VE can roll a 746 and Thief roll#1 is 497 - Roll#2 745 -even with a thief with TH4 cannot get a avg drop.

I believe items like Rabbit Charm and other 5% drops have min in the 850 range.....

This is just the theory I believe in I most likely am wrong but it would explain alot, and since the only true way to run a random item is to throw dice or /random this makes sense to me!

I think it's pretty obvious that being in a party doesn't increase drop chance by 6x (or anything close.) The "everyone gets a roll" theory is silly.

Ever notice that while xping you get 1 crystal or maybe 2 if solo but as a pt you can get 4-6. Sometimes with a thf in pt you can get more then 6items per xp kill. Not silly at all to think of the "everyone gets a roll" theory and actually it makes a lot of sense.

Everyone in your party gets a roll for crystals if they have signet, that doesn't mean it works the same way for all the other items. Solo, you will never get more than one crystal.

Somewhat OT: how many pieces of single currency have you seen drop in dynamis from one mob? I've seen 5 from a hydra mob, I think. In cities I've seen 4 singles drop.

Crystals are different. 0 signets in party = 0 crystals too. But this is why some people think TH has to be "in party" because you can never get more than 6 crystals, even in an alliance of 18. But they're not really related.

Building on that, I've been in a party of 3 where only 1 person touched the mob(me), but 2 crystals dropped. This is totally contrary to the theory that people have to be on the hate list. Alternately, it could just mean that crystals have their own rules.

no one healed the person or interacted with the person that touched the mob?

I would cry so much if it turns out Dynamis Currency drops like Crystals and you need to have Signet to make them drop.

I've definately seen 6 singles drop from Attestation Mobs (not the NM but the 6 other mobs that pop with it, they also drop multiple types of currency from the same mob) but I can't recall seeing more than 6 off a single mob. Definately have seen 4-5 from regular mobs in Jeuno.

You know, that right these explains why certain rare/ex items will drop (usable ones), but be lost, while some others just wont drop.

It seems to coincide with what I've noticed.

(warning - may be severely off topic by now)

I think the worst part of all of this is that square gives us abilities, then doesn't even tell us exactly how they work. Also they 'forbid' 3rd party program usage - which is how many people find certain things out about the game that they would be unable to resolve without the software.

    =(
