as per someone's request.
Yes you do get a 3000 currency refund.
You go to the " " area.
Trade the items.
A ghost pop out
Ghost give some speech
You get the weapon and the 3000 currency.
I don't think they should be that overpowered. The main problem that I see is that since the relics are already in game, people already have them, SE basically is limited in that they can never release a weapon better than relics, unless those weapons are harder to get than relics. How pissed would you be if they threw some new H2H in there that completely fucking owned your Spharai and your Destroyers, and it was a common drop from a KS99 or something? That being said, most of the weapons are the best weapon in the game for the jobs that can equip them.
The dagger, while most people think "oh dagger is a pussy weapon", sorry but it's hands down by far the best dagger in the game. The base damage is huge, the delay is low. You could solo insane mobs due to the evasion bonus and the apparently ridiculous poison. Anyone serious about their jobs, who just wants to be the best they can be at their job, is going to want a relic. It's that simple. It doesn't need to be "insanely overpowered", it just needs to be really fucking good. Which it is. I'm working on the dagger (overall progress is about 3,000/17,900) and I'd do it even if it didn't have a Weapon Skill at all. Why? If nothing else because of the insane DPS ratio. People talk about "is it worth it for the money?" well you tell me if a fucking Triumph Earring is worth 8 million and then we can have a discussion.
Anyway, with the new update my speculation is that the new Dynamis areas will be on a different timer than the current Dynamis areas, meaning twice as much supply of currency. And with fewer people going per run (24-36), it means less lag and hence more people doing it, and it also means more currency / person after the split. So perhaps prices will drop.[/i]
Why do people pay more for SH+1 for the mere 2 more acc and evation?
Why do people pay more for +5rings for the mere 1 more stats?
Why do people pay more for eris+1 earing for the mere 1 more enimity?
Why do people pay more for cursed gear -1 for the tiny stats increae?
The list can go on and on, but the point is:
Is these little things that add up to make your character better/efficient/uberer/etc. then other people's character and in the end, these little things count.
Relic might not be the uber nuke war head, but with all other variable the same, I will always do more melee damage then other monks, I will always be able to counter more than other monks, and I will always be able to make light skillchains from both side.
Relic makes you better at your job (staff is another story) but it doesn't make you become another job.

Sure they can release better weapons than relics. The problem is, if there are better weapons than relics -- or even competing weapons that are much easier to get a la destroyers -- then basically SE will have obsoleted Dynamis.Originally Posted by divisortheory
I think they should release better weapons and armor. Slow power inflation is good because it keeps things from from stagnating; why do you think that JPs are still camping faffy after he's been in the game for 2 years? 200 ppl are in Dragon's Aery camping fafnir on day 4 because 1) nidhogg STILL drops 3 of the best armors in the game, for 7 of the 15 jobs 2) fafnir STILL drops the best sword and drops the synth item needed for the best blm armor, in addition to nice money drops.
If there was another power level of items after the stuff the 3 kings drop, you would camp fafhogg until your LS were strong enough to go after the better stuff, and then there would be little reason to ever camp it again--just for the occasional challenge and something fun to pass the time.
but armor is tricky as you have 5 slots to play with ( you can have this one drop best body, that one drop best hand, etc). while weapon is only one slot.
SE did, however, introduced yin yang robe for SMN to replace dalamatica.
They can always do something to make a lvl 6 relic. But instead of currency it will need something else to upgrade?Originally Posted by aurik
They should release L6 Relic, and make it fairly easy to get. Make the L6 Horn not that much better than the L5 Horn, make the rest of the weapons get a substantial boost, to reduce their status from "a complete waste of time" to "a collosal waste of time". That would fix the current relic situation.

Then you start to run into the problem of Square adding really good gear to really easy monsters, and people scratching their heads as to why Jorm and Tiamat aren't dropping gear of that quality instead.Originally Posted by Muze
I honestly don't see this as a problum, Some ls would always have a use for faffhog drops, like newly 75 groups that can't yet handle CoP wyrms or sea (if the drops were better than faffhog)Originally Posted by aurik
Gaiter is still very good.Originally Posted by Xavier
So is merciful pole, but that just me.
I think an item can be really good while maintaining a really useless status. I'd say gaiters are good, but not enough, and merciful pole is good at hitting for 0-5 dmg lol =(Originally Posted by Muze
I think the point I'd make about that is that Jorm is far harder than Fafnir, and yet there is simply no comparison between Ridill and Merciful Pole.
Gaiters are a toy, I haven't seen a REAL use for them yet. "Blah blah keeping up with paladins in crimson" oh please you kite in a predermined path so that this is far from necessary. Rostrum pumps are superior for mages, adding 2.5x as much mana plus stats and 1% fastcast won't hurt you.
Mercurial Pole is skillup trash. Now that you can't get skill off zero-damage hits it might not even qualify. It would be more useful if it wasn't a multihit onion staff.
For that matter would it really been that bad to give mercurial Great Sword a decent D rating and I don't know.. mabye LET DRK EQUIP IT. if it even had a D:40 it would clear up this ridell drk mess, you could have your ridell wars and your mercurial Gswd drks living in harmony instead of disolving the alliance on one another.

On your 75 blm or whm job, you've never experienced a time when movement speed would have made a significant difference? Ever played BLM in dynamis? Toy yes, but toys can have "REAL uses" seeing how everything is a toy that doesnt fit cookie cutter deffinitions of how things are suppose to be done. (Although even things that do fit those deffinitions are "toys" as well.) Also btw, some mages prefer to not use -HP, which rostrum pumps have...Originally Posted by aurik
True story. 2 75 WHM/BLM held fafnir for nearly 10minutes, duo. Guess what item made that possible. (Not in any way shape or form an argument in favor of giving WHMs gaiters, just showing "use")
