Not really, with shield bash merits, the PLD can do 200-300+ damage with one bash every 4 minutes, which would give hate too, unlike excalibur's additional damage, which gives none.

Personally, with aegish shield and shadow mantle, I would ditch /nin but when it works so well for you I guess there is no point.

if we ditch /nin we would have to restructure the support group we use. and at the same time maintain that same support group for whenever that specific PLD is not online.

But we have so many Ageises and Shadow Mantles laying about. Hell, my mules all have them... >_>

I think its obvious that both would be better. But they're looking at it in the light that you'd only use one. Giving ONE person two fully upgraded Relics might lean towards the unfair side. Especially if that person packs up his bags for WoW.

In hindsight I'm sure they would agree, but you can't really guess how useful a relic would be before trying it out for yourself.

60-80% when shadows are down does not justify a 500M investment.

if we would've know Excalibur's added effect wasn't full hate, we probably would've done Relic Horn. regardless, any of the 3 would've went to someone who's currently playing WoW, so it doesn't matter.

I guess, but the only thing that really justifies relics in terms of difficulty are the CoP wyrms, and the shield would really own for them. The fireballs are blockable w/ a shield, so if you had shadow ring and that shield, that'd be really pimp for while they're flying. Its such a limited use though (like all relic but the horn) that its not worth it in the end.

in my honest opinion, BG should have done the shield and not the sword.

It takes way more than 30M to upgrade Aegis, on average about 100-150 1 pieces drop each dynamis, for the first stage you need 300, second you need 1,200, third you'll need 5,800-6,200, and finally for the fourth one you'll need 10,000. I've done the first stage and i got pretty lucky, i only spent 1.5M on getting 300 currency, but theres no way 30M can get you 15,000-17,000 currency, its just outrageous unless you're so damn lucky and you get 500 currency notes every dynamis. I'd estimate this shield taking about 80-90M out of my pocket at the end, if i only net around 100 pieces each time i sponsor, i'd add about 50M to that.

In my opinion, yea this shit is way more useful than Excalibur, who cares if it doesnt look as cool, taking 10-30 damage hits from wyrms is worth it.

A relic weapon should do more than 300 dmg on nidhogg.

Its an absolute joke, how SE designed these weapons. Having a relic should put you on par with a BLM in HNM fights, or atleast make the light skillchain do insane damage.

SE as a company sucks, and treats the upper tier end game players like shit, bottom line.

Normal additional effects are magic based and are not considered to be coming from the individual as damage but Excalibur isn't exactly normal. The additional effect on Excalibur is delivered as physical damage and as such it is suject to damage nullification (invincible) and damage reduction (Elementals, ghosts, giant birds, things that are strong to slashing damage). Since it is a physically delivered attack it does give you hate which is why in sea if I randomly start meleeing ghrahs early in the fight I can pull it off a Paladin or Ninja tank easily enough.

300 + 1200 + 6000 + 9900 = 17400 currency
Spharai cost=
400 + 1400 + 6100 + 10000= 17900 currency

So 500 currency on your server cost around 200mil?
