Remember that time they added Background Music to fishing?
They need a ranking system for all crafts so we can find out who to pester to make things for us.
By the way Raineer, I need a pair of Blessed mitts. (Seriously)
I'm going to be making some this week trying to HQ, send me a tell in game this can be arranged.Originally Posted by Rafbacca

It's like when a blm tries to convince you they don't dominate in ballista. Unless your a ballista expert don't even begin to refute it. Sleep with a poison pot still amounts to a stun. Plus they have an actual Stun spell oh and bind. AOE tier II spells do decent damage and are fast casting aswell. Any blm with half a brain can dominate ballista, put 2 together and things get ridiculous.
SMN's get more use on Wyrms than Melee, Tiamat included, the people who dominate it on our server are a group of BST. Also not a melee job.
There's also the point that the majority of jobs are melee jobs and while there is so many varying jobs we all serve the same functional purpose of subbing thief and being swapped into party. That also constitutes a lack of balance to me.
I think the problem is people have become accustomed to the blatant lack of originality between strategies needed to kill HNM's and follow this formula time in and time out on every single one they kid themselves into believing "well if we can kill it then everything is working properly".
If the day ever comes where BLM gets reduced to only being a back up white mage (panda) and they start crying about it I am gonna laugh my ass telling them that, they aren't broken they or their linkshell must just be incompetant. While most every job has an ideal subjob, they shouldn't be defined by it and if Blm's only job was to sub whm and cure people they wouldn't be happy either.
Heres my opinon on the whole thing. First off, you guys complain a tad bit much. However, at times, its entertaining. Second, stuff like this is interesting, so I wouldn't want them to never add it but...
Third, SE needs to make a big portion of people happy. I could dare say its 'easy' to fix the endgame. Fix Sea... fix its drop rates(anything less than a COMBINED percent on 50%+ on third tier jailers final drop is quite maddening), fix its glitches, and make AV 100% pop. Fix the situation on Kings, weither it be making them pop everyday or making them their crap a lot more. Fix melee vs HNM, weither it be something to do with acc, eva, or def... but melees are unhappy, make some effort.
And, add all the stuff you want, once everyone is happy. I think the idea of a fishing ranking system is fantastic, but there are some issues.
Back to you guys being complete cry babies. You realize this isn't the highlight of the update, this is just one of many things coming. Dynamises and DRG 2hr are the highlights. You can't get mad over everything in the update that supports you, and only you... you complain if nothing helps you. Dynamis = high level content, hurray, at least ONE thing has helped you. It ought to be a lot more fun than the other ones apparently, have fun.
The funny thing about this update is it's bullshit. Fishing, like most other stuff in the game has its share of problems and instead of fixing them we get bullcrap like this. If this were a sea update it would probably translate into: "We didn't change any droprates in sea, but heres trophy furniture you can get for when you pop and zenmetsu to sea mobs! Bronze trophy for wiping to an invisible/teleporting JoP, Silver for wiping to the massive regen filled JoL, and a big gold middle finger for AV".
oh yeah another BS thing about this update is that sizes and weights of fish are 100% random. X) It's not gonna be a test of skill as much as it will be a test of "who has a lushang and can afk in the same spot the longest".
The problem is that Square showed their best card too early. High or low level, I haven't heard people clamoring to get the best fish. This is the order that they announce their updates.Originally Posted by BRP

I would have ordered them like this.
Fellowship System Updates
Dragoons
Storing Special Equipment and More!
Introducing the Fish Ranking System
Merit Points
New Areas of Dynamis
Start off with an update that is fairly general (NPC Fellows), then go to an update that affect all levels (Dragoons), general good news (NPC storage and cooking items), throw in crap that no one cares about (Fish Ranking), then two bones for high-level people. You snag people and keep their attention with the first two good-news for everyone items, new foods generate a lot of buzz, people don't care about Fishing, and then two bones for end-game. If you get people too excited too early, you will dash their hopes and make them bitchy.

There should be one or two more update news before the update no? And one thing SE is bad at, using an expansion page as an excuse to not release no info on the coming update... and not updating that expansion page in like two weeks.
Plus fishing is just so goddamn fun that MINIMUM 95% of fishermen are bots.Originally Posted by Not Kuno
I've played both BLM and MNK in Ballista, and I really don't think BLM dominates. Multiple BLMs working together maybe, but not one. The fact that Ballista stops BLM from swapping gear in the heat of battle makes the job far weaker.Originally Posted by Zigrah
Don't fight a mage if you can't defend yourself. Poison pots prevent you from sleeping despite the minor delay that occurs. Bind is useless if you have the status effect removal items. Subbing NIN on any job renders probably over half the spell list completely useless. The element of surprise works wonders as well.
Using AoE after AoE on BLM completely drains the MP pool faster than you can even get items to compensate for it. If you don't want to sit out to rest MP (while hoping no one finds you), you may as well get yourself killed and HP.
Part of Ballista is about working together with your team too. If there is a player on the other team dominating things (regardless of job)... eliminate him.
