Wait a second, can someone please confirm this?
On my blackmage subbed rdm i can finish casting any spell at exactly 60% +/- 1% with fast cast boots and back armor. That would be the equivalent of 4 levels of fast casting.
A redmage with 6 levels (AF hat and body) of fast cast can finish casting around 50% am i correct (i am not sure about this).
But, if in fact a redmage with 6 levels of fast cast enhancement can finish a spell at 50% then it would sort of show that each fast casting trait will remove -5% from the casting bar regardless of the item. Which would mean that the earrings are in fact helpful just like the boots and back armor.

I'll only speak for myself when i say this but as a mage, i dont really care about the -recast timer... the most important part of fast cast is being able to finish a spell faster, especially those tier IV and III -ga spells.
Going to again reiterate the point that beyond FC3, there are not "levels" to fast cast. There are merely items that enhance the trait by a static amount, which is set based on the actual item.

ehhh edit: Which means that on 75BLM/RDM you don't have "fastcast 4", you just have FastCast 2 plus the items that drive you down to 60% cast time. I don't even have Duelist's Tabard yet alot of my spells fire under 50%, fyi refresh is 51%. The loquacious earring gives me the same benefit that it gives you.

Now I can certainly see the point that it would help a BLM or WHM more since you don't have access to the FC3 trait that I get just by levelling my RDM past 55. I was just posting my opinion as a RDM75. I was hoping for a larger count of it (similar to the hat maybe?), instead I got Rostrum Pumps.

i always thought there was Fast cast IV ?
    lvl 15, 35, 50, 70 ? or something like that?

    *edit*
In fact i always thought all jobs had a 4th upgrade at lvl 70 like evasion bonus for thf, accuracy bonus for rng, drg, magic atk, etc... then again i never did any substantial testing...

15 35 55 are the only Job Traits.

"FC4" that everyone refers to is just the AF hat at 60. There is no trait beyond 55, although allakhazam i think has one posted at 75, that's false.

Different spells fire at different %s actually.

Both fast cast (getting a spell off before the 10 demon swarm gets to you and 1-shots you) and recast (getting sleep II back before the first of the 5 things you're sleeping wakes up) is pretty important. As others posted earlier, RDM/NIN the recast is pretty useful for utsusemi as well.

I got this earring monday and obviously the first thing I did was some tests. I did my tests on Blm/whm and Blm/rdm with the Loq. Earring and Rostrum pumps to compare the haste effect.

On Blm/whm, with Boots + Earring, the recast on Reraise was reduced to 58s from 60 originally. With either of them on their own, the recast was 59s. This suggested that they were similar in their +Haste effects untill I tried...

On Blm/rdm, I tested the recast of Stoneskin with the earring only first. The result was 0 recast reduced. I then tried with only the Rostrum pumps, and the recast was reduced by 1s... So just from that I knew that the Rostrum pumps had a stronger +haste effect on the recast.

I havent had enough time yet to test the exact effects of the cast time reduction for the earring though, so that may end up being it's saving grace. At the moment though, my guess is that the boots are +3% haste while the earring is +2%, since that seems to be the closest numbers that work without going into fractions.

Don't think so. It's about 50% haste I believe. Ni recast with 100 fists is like 20 seconds with Brown Belt, 40 seconds w/o 100 Fists.

Also, go take a bare handed level 1 monk and 100 fist him and he won't attack nearly as fast as a Destroyer-equipped Lv75 monk.

For your purposes the earring is worth it then. It reduces casting time by 5%, as Raineer stated, which is the same as the rdm af1 or af2 items that enhance fast cast, although those also reduce recast time by 5%.

I thought the mantle and rostrums didn't give 5%?

On my server Quick Belt is very cheap and has 2% haste. Can you compare your timers with this item as well, I think that would help shed some light on the matter.

Wyvern Targe is 1% haste to help testing. You'll find that quick belt will cut 2 seconds off reraise if you don't have any other haste, 60 x 0.02 = 1.2, which will show up as 58 seconds. So both Rostrum and Locquacious are < 2% on recast reduction. Since both combined show up as 2 seconds off reraise that would mean combined they are < 3.33% recast haste.

I personally wouldn't get the Loquacious earring. I'm in no dire need for MP as a taru. I'd rather let someone else in my LS get it.

15% Double Attack + 15% Kick Attacks = win. being able to get in a third attack every couple of rounds helps immensely with TP gain.
