This is the worst thing I've ever heard, because 3 ACC and 8 STR is nowhere near clear cut by any means.
It makes sense, do you want to hit, or do you want to hit harder?

Do you wanna land your spell, or do you want your spell to be useful (proc more/better potency)

slow is variable, blind is probably static, although i'm not sure.

You want to do both. Now the question is which is gonna help you do both more. The answer is it depends on what other gear you have and what you're eating. What I quoted seemed to make it sound simple, although I can't tell which one he meant, when it's really not. Most of the time 3 ACC is more important than 8 STR, but it really depends.

I'm just saying that was a horrible way to answer it, unless Raineer meant that it's all preference and/or dependant on other variables. But then he didn't make the clear either. So...

I agree with your post mostly except for this part, 3 ACC is NOT as good as 8 STR is, ever, if they can be used in the same slot. It'd be like a MNK using Federation Tekko instead of Pallas's Brc (if they were at a similar lvl).

I think it is just the very random nature of the spell that makes people think that it breaks from damage.
It does. It will break on practically the first melee hit. It's rare it lasts for more than 1 or 2 nukes for me on EM+. I can keep NMs in Dynamis-Xarcabard bound long enough for the spell to be castable again, but breath on them and it breaks.
The best way to test it is to cast Bind on something Tough or higher, time how long it lasts without doing damage to it, zone, and then do that over and over again. If you do it enough times, the spell is just appears to be really, really random.

I will sometimes get hot-ass binds off in the Brothers ENM, I do it with two BLMs every week. I have seen Bind live through 4 or more tier 4 nukes and some tier 3s from me. I think level difference and innate resistance to ice and bind in general are the most important factors in Bind's variability.

It's pretty obvious it's the nuke thats breaking it. Nuke lands, immediate wearoff message. Whether or not it breaks when damage happens is somewhat random, but it's pretty obvious the damage is causing the break.

Yes, I agree, level and resistance play a part of it. However damaging the mob gives it a free break check. You can get lucky and even if the break chance is 50% you can have it stay bound through 5 casts, but usually it'll break on the first one or two.

    If you couldn't tell a difference in resist and proc rates of para on Faf/Nid/Vrtra after your got your chapeau, then perhaps yours is broken. ;_;

Here's another RDM question, since mine is almost 72 now:

MND or INT, once you get to the point you don't have room to macro swap any more than you already are?

So far, I've been macro swapping at least 3 pieces of gear per spell. e.g. enfeebling torque, AF body, appropriate staff for enfeebles. Elemental torque, AF hat, moldavite earring, appropriate staff for MB. Dark torque and pluto's staff for bio/aspir/drain. And for cure, refresh, etc. I swap in vermy just because I already had it for SMN. The rest of my slots have been static.

Since I don't want to add even more to my inventory space and macros and swap between +INT items and +MND items for every spell, is there a particular stat that seems to be more important for RDM?

I'm Elvaan, and at 71 (no errant until 72), my stats are INT 55+29, MND 72+7, and a MND food (like Mushroom Stew) to even it all out. Though I can't help but wonder if I should be pimping out MND instead.

Ice Threnody is noticeable (like everything else bards do) but +15 enfeebling isn't some dramatic night and day thing.

Just wait for Errant. I swap more gear than you, and have a macro just to "reset" gear. If you go with that (which is nice to have after convert anyway) Pick 6 slots that your enfeebling and convert macro can alter and make a "reset" macro that covers all of those.
i.e. my convert is somethign like:
    crimson legs
    faery hairpin
    republic medallion
that +48 or whatever MP belt
zenith mitts (put -hp stuff last)
    /convert

    My reset macro is:
    errant legs
    duelist's chapeau
    enfeebling torque
    penitent's rope
    master caster bracelets
duelist's tabard (because I swap errant body for drain/nuke etc.)

Then all of my macros have somethign like:
/recast, or warlock's chapeau depending on spell
appropriate staff or mythic wand for stoneskin
errant body for nukes and dark magic, warlock for some enfeebles
appropriate ring1 either mnd or int
    approriate torque
    /spell

I just leave enfeebling and wizard earring on or put the +mgk attack on manually if I'm nukeing. When I get locquacious earring I'll start adding them into macros somehow.

MND drives our most important debuffs, so I would pimp MND instead. Especially if I was elvaan, i'd have every possible MND item in the game.

I switched from Elite+1 to Chapeau when I got it. The difference in para resist and proc rate was very noticeable, and I sold all my magic acc gear.

I seriously don't read the forums enough to catch on to your remarks Razz, but scerw you, I only silenced Tiamat when I was told to the first we fought it and never again once I was told not to around the second fight. So /slap go away!
And paralyzing tiamat = too easy o.o the first 10 minutes of the fight, after that, he gains an amounted resistance over ice and wind based spells, but you can always count on landing everything around the start.

    Jormungand however......now that's a fiesty big critter...
