All you people saying you'd sell gil, IGE gives like 1/3 of what they charge for it and if that's like $12 for 1 mil then you'd get $4 or something... Not only that but lately their sell gil option hasn't been availible.

I priced it often to see what the gilsellers made an hour, when I was competiong against them because I was curious and I really couldn't understand why. I would have to assume they don't buy from just anyone these days because SE used it to catch some of them or something... one can hope at least.

RMT is pretty dumb, it would not be the exact ruin of the economy though, I mean that gil has to be already in the system if it's being sold, if anything IGE holding on to it for awhile helps the economy. But it's not like they are duping gil, it's just already there.

From an economical standpoint everything is doing what it should be, but if you want to blame someone blame the person raising the price on haubergeon and the idiots who actually pay it without question.

you have to understand the cost of living in China and wherever other places these people are from.

i wouldn't blame the seller since he needs the gil to buy other stuff. it only hurts them a little bit to try, it's the buyer that makes the prices jump 1M+ at a time that really suck.

It really isn't that much IRL time for an item to get returned, people just need to be patient, crafters on materials and buyes alike. half the problum with SH price is crafters busting a nut over claw in AH cause they thing their HQ chance is 50% for some reason.

Good news: I managed to get haub/vermy/scorp and juggernaut all before gilsellers went rampant and ruined the economy (back in the days when I mined for some of my gil, there were no gilsellers there to compete with. Strange Apparatus items were also actually worth something).

Bad news: I can't actually sell any of these items because I need them. Especially Juggernaut, I bought it for 3 mil, its now 20 mil, but if I sell it, I sell out my WAR.

Yeah cost of living is different but it doesn't change my point that it holds little to no purpose for those saying "I shoulda sold my stuff before I quit".

I still blame the seller in a regard, but I am as guilty as the next guy. I have risen the price on stuff but that is capitalism. The problem is, conscious(sp?) of my guilt I usually don't scream bloody murder when it happens to me, well I will complain in jest but I don't get torn up inside. The problem is the inflation, we're all aware of it that there is too much money in the system and some people just have the power to throw it around everywhere. It's not just the RMT people but they contribute... until the RMT is actually made though one could argue that while IGE merely holds the gil without doing anything, they are curbing inflation. Then when they sell some it's bloats... but that's because all they are doing is giving us this illusion that there is less money in the system because they are hoarding it.

Anyways, if someone sells a Kraken Club for 150mil, and some guy has raised the price on an item by 500k and it's the only one left... I don't think they are going to wait for the price to drop. The problem is that because a price history exists the next seller will try to get that price and unfortunatly supply and demand exists to enough of an extent that people keep buying. As ridiculous as it sounds, if you want to screw over the gilsellers you gotta get everyone to gimp it up for a few weeks. If someone in my party said to me, "I didn't buy O.Kote because I refuse to support gilsellers" I certainly wouldn't play the gimp card on him. We personally put too much emphasis on our equip though and people feel pressured to have the best. I ultimately blame the buyers, and again I am a guilty party because I am impatient and I will often contribute to buying something for extra when I need it without waiting, partly because I know if I don't buy it someone else will. Inflation will never stop though so I guess you just gotta get used to it. As long as people keep crafting and biying up crystals and silk threads etc. for things to keep going up. Also items from HNM also going up then it's all balanced so your complaint is not so big.

If on Remora something like emp hairpin cost 10mil, but all of a sudden you found out for some unexplicable reason silk thread sold for 100k a stack(mass exaggeration to prove a point), your sympathy for their high priced hairpin would dwindle because suddenly you realize the value of 100 gil on remora = 20 gil on Bahamut and the item price is not the real issue but the value of the peices of gil themselves. That's why when people always ask, how much are these expensive items I always retort well how much are the crafting supplies.

To put it simply, X costs $30 U.S. but it costs $40 Canadian. They are acually the same price but one's money is worth more. People should be trying to calculate the value of 1 gil, which is hard because we can't know the servers total amount of gil.

With Bahamuts current crafting supply prices, I believe I could farm for an emperor hairpin on a lvl 30 thief, just as fast as I did when I actually was a 30 thief and they were only 300k. The value of the item really hasn't increased in my opinion, just the value of my gil has decreased on an exponential scale and I am glad I had my money stocked in items.

I'm not saying that this particular thread was the cause of this particular occurence. However, this does seem to support my theory that threads like this on cross-server forums like this play a factor in rising prices for certain items.

For example, a person on Remora reads that Uber Gear +1 is selling for 5mil higher on every other server but theirs. So (ding) he knows people want this item so much that they would be willing to get it no matter what the cost. Commence price hike.

I get suspicious when someone posts a thread asking for another server's economy profile. Are they asking so they can bitch over how cheap (or expensive) the items they want are on other servers? Or are they taking the temperature on the demand of certain items?

I know a few ppl who either dupe or have duped in the past. Also when FFXI was released in japan for the PS2, there was a dupe hack exploit with the Auction House, there were bans carried out however I'm not sure if some got away with it.
