    Homam Corazza Test Results

The following test was done on Aura Pots while farming Ro'Maeve Water. I have exactly 1 merit in Triple Attack, and 1 merit in Dagger for anyone keeping track. I had 2 PCs running, and on the second PC I would write in notepad how many times I swung my weapon each attack round. for example, 2, 4, 2 means I swung 2 times, pause, 4 times, pause, 2 times. /NIN obviously, which explains why each round is a multiple of 2

    2 4 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
    2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 2
    2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2
    2 2 2 2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 4 2 2
    2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 4 2 2 2
    2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 4
    2 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
    2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 2
    2 4 2 2 2 2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
    2 2 2 2 4 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 4 4
    2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 2
    2 4 2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2
    2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
    2 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 4 2 2 2 2 2
    2 4 2 2 2 4 4 2 2 2 2 2 2 4 2 2 2
    2 2 4 2 2 4 2 2 2 2 4 6 4 2 6 2 4
    2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 4

I have already done the calculation and come up with my overall triple attack percent of 9.43%. However, I encourage you to do the calculation for yourself to confirm that I didn't make a mathematical error. Assuming it were exactly correct, this would mean that minus my 1% from merit I'm 8.43%, and minus the 5% base, i'm at 3.43%. In which case perhaps the Corazza would add somewhere in the neighborhood of Triple Attack +3.5%.

EDIT: Seems the 2.5% number didn't make it into this thread for some reason. It's well known from other parses the following information:

    Base Triple Attack = 5%
    Base Double Attack = 10%
    Brutal Earring = 5%

If you notice, the Base Triple Attack and Base Double Attack rates make them equivalent What I mean is Triple Attack gives you twice as many extra hits as Double Attack. But Double Attack fires twice as often. This means the two traits are -equivalent- as far as swings/time is concerned.

Now, Brutal Earring is parsed at 5%, and the above parse shows Corazza at just under 3.5%. Due to the mass number of doubles and triples firing at the end of my parse, 2.5% is a safe conclusion because it fits perfectly into the "equivalence" of Double and Triple Attack that exists in their base rates.

    Thanks

Nice stuff, but that means that thfs natural triple attack rate is far lower than I thought it was

I'm going to hope more tests will be needed to prove that this is better than that. I mean, Earring is 5%, and you really can't put anything close to that good in that slot. You'd think that for an important slot like body it'd be meaningful.

I think THF Triple base is 5%, sounds like that probably adds another 5.

279 is a low sample size, your margin of error is pretty large with that still. Your best bet would be to get a log parser and parse a weeks worth of fighting with it. I think you'll want upwards of 3000 swings to be within 1% with 95% confidence.

  10. #10

yea i agree FFXIFlux. Problem with a log parser is that it doesn't tell you shit when it comes to triple attack. there's no message saying "Triple Attack just went off" or something like that. You just have to count. That being said, it's definitely a small sample size, as you can clearly see by the mass of triples going off near the end. if that hadn't happened, ti would have been much lower. i try to test in exp parties sometimes, but melee burns are so fast i don't have time to really concentrate on it.

To SirEaglestrike, while it may seem sucky, remember that Triple Attack is one more hit than Double Attack. Double Attack Base is 10%, while Triple Attack Baseis 5%. It's not cuz THFs got shafted, it's because Double Attack is naturally an extra not as strong, so it should go off more often to level the playing field. If you multiple 10% x 2, and 3.5% x 3, it turns out a 3.5% triple attack gives more attacks over a period of time than a 10% double attack. so it doesn't suck. but more testing still needs to be done, no doubt.

Do you have another job that can use it that's not a Thf? That should be a pretty easy way (through a good sample size) of testing the added effect.

  12. #12

No unfortunately my next highest job is RNG51. Guy in my LS though has DRK72 or so, should be 75 soon. We're doing Proto-Omega again on Monday, so if we win and the heart drops and he gets the heart, he might be able to test it on his DRK.

Were you wearing Assassin's Poulaines? I know you didn't mention, but just wanted to make sure.

Does this armor work the same as the Brutal Earring? I have noticed that I can double attack on any of my jobs while using this ear regardless of my sub. Even if this body is only 5% if you can Triple Attack as DRK/THF with a scythe that is pretty incredible.

  16. #16

I would assume so, though i don't know of any non-thieves who have the armor who can tell us for certain.

    Your maths is wrong .

If Double Attack base is 10%, then for every 100 strikes, 10 of them are double attacks, so the total number of hits is 110.
Triple Attack base being 5%, for every 100 strikes, 5 are triple attacks so the total number of hits is 110.

    Exactly the same.
    Think of it this way:
Instead of being called "double attack" think of it as being "1 extra hit", so if the proc rate is 10%, you get "1 extra hit" 10% of the time. Same with triple attack, think of it as "2 extra hits". So 2 extra hits 5% of the time is equivalent to 1 extra hit 10% of the time.

  18. #18

oops, yea thanks for catching that So a Triple Attack +2.5% would make it pretty much equivalent to a Brutal Earring then. At least as far as the number of extra swings you would get in a given time interval is concerned.
