yes... the souleater + bloodweapon does nice dmg.. but the additional drain is not extra dmg... (that's too bad.)
as someone has done souleater + bloodweapon on me @ ballista... the font color of me taking dmg was red while the HP drain was default white... soo i only took the amount of dmg she hit me for.
lol. you didn't understand a word I said.Originally Posted by NynJa
I said it drains less HP, yet it stays just as strong. I did NOT however, say that it doesn't drain less for each hit, then changed my mind. the first part (which you so kindly put in bold) is concerning dmg, and the second is concerning the hp drained from yourself. I never once said 2 opposite things in my message. you failed to understand the message.
on a side note, I've never experienced it to do more dmg, the more HP it drains. nice to know it does. so that still leaves my original post at fault, apparently. But what you said, had nothing to do with my post, whatsoever. kthxbye
just because its in white means its not damage ??Originally Posted by AwakendSoul
then how the fuck do black mages use drain on mobs for the kill, but drain 0 hp ??
And you're a drk ??Originally Posted by Khelek
you said souleater never gets weaker...
If you have 1000hp, and drain 10% (100hp) of that into damage, you now have 900 hp, but added 100 dmg. Now, with 900hp, you drain another 10% (90hp) into damage, but added 90 dmg.
IT GETS WEAKER AS YOUR HP GETS LOWER.
Do Bahamut players just not know their own fucking jobs ??
First Marcatil didn't know what the heck fast cast did, now I'm explaining souleater dmg to a drk.
I remember using drain on a mob as BLM (Lv.33Originally Posted by NynJa
) when you have full HP, it does damage, but it's not recorded in the log and says something along the lines of "<name> recovers 0hp" (i think, it's been a while) so basically you're doing the damage, but it only shows what you recovered from it, when you have full HP, you can't exactly recover, which is why it says 0hp
MARCATIL IS NOT ON BAHAMUT.
OUR RDMS KNOW HOW FAST CAST WORK.
Because blood weapon does not act the same as the drain spell. Its just a message they put into the code for blood weapon to make it look the same. Just because they put the same message doesn't mean the code to take the enemy's life comes with it.Originally Posted by NynJa

Bloodweapon doesn't add extra "drain" damage, it just converts the damage done into HP. So, for example, a DRK mob is hitting you for 100 dmg base. You're taking 100 dmg a hit. The mob then uses bloodweapon, and it says they're hitting you for 100 dmg and draining another 100 dmg, therfore you WOULD be losing 200 dmg because of the actual hit + the drain. However that is not how it works. It will still only do 100 dmg, but it will heal the mob for 100 dmg. An INCREDIBLY obvious example of this is Jorm.
AND in response to your dumbass question, the drain spell is different from the effect done by bloodweapon. The spell drain does a certain amount of unrecordable dark magic damage, with a piece of that damage converted to HP. For example, you cast the spell drain on a mob and the unrecorded damage is 100 hp, and you drain for 50 hp, it should end up being a total of 100 hp to the mob and 50 hp to you, but because it's impossible to know the base damage of the spell since it isn't visible on the log, that is just a theory. However if you cast drain again and the drain gets resisted, it will show up as "Drained for 0" but the base, invisible damage still hit the mob, despite the lack of the extra drained hp.
I think Nynja was just trying to point out that text color does not necessarily indicate whether or not damage was done... I could be wrong. :XOriginally Posted by Sekkite
Unfortunately, that's not how the drain spell works either.Originally Posted by Ashen
Drain does a certain amount of damage to the mob, but only shows the HP you recover. If you're at full HP, it will show 0 just like when you cure someone who is already at full HP.
If my HP is 700/700HP and I drain, I see I recover 0 (the mob took some damage from it... this is not a resist)
If my HP is 650/700HP and I drain (assuming no resist), I will recover 50HP out of the 51+ damage that was done.
If my HP is 300/700HP and I drain, I may see 250HP recovered (my HP becomes 550/700) and that was exactly how much damage the mob took as well.
You have not explained a single thing to me. The other members of this forum did that, as you can see in the post from me that you quoted. You just repeated what they've already said.Originally Posted by NynJa
lol @ DRKs who don't know what soul eater does
The point of Bloodweapon in this instance is that it replenishes the HP you put into souleater, thus getting credit for a full HP souleater right up until you pull hate.

Im a drkand i wish if less morons play our job
i dont blame them afterall though Thanks to the uper brady guide "DRK IS MASTER OF OFFENCE" lol
then they play drk thinkin they gonna be gods in the game while we are not
I know how to play my job, don't get me wrong. Yet having been told by higher leveled DRKs (who, apprently had no idéa of what they were talking about) that the amount of HP drained has nothing to do with the amount of extra dmg you do, I never gave it a second thought. and I wouldn't really have been able to benefit from knowing this before, since I've always used souleater while I've had full/near full HP and almost only when using WSs, then turning it off.
I'm tired. I'll check for typos tomorrow.. -.-zzZzz
I'm leaving *shoots the screen*
I like DRKs who can use Souleater to it's full potential for the whole 1 minute.
