    May not make much of a difference on items with 50% drop rate, but on items like Kraken Club, rabbit charm, 100 bynes, AF2, 1% is huge.

    Hmm... Interesting results. Here's a couple of thoughts I have about it.

    300 kills is a terribly low sample. To give you some math, here is the estimated range of deviation on those samples compared iwth the estimated range of deviation on mine. For reference, I am using the formula

    Sqrt[NumDrops * (NumKills - NumDrops) / NumKills^3]

    which can be found (or an equivalent formula can be found) in any reasonable probability and statistics textbook.

    FFXIOnline Test - TH2 only
    NumDrops = 114
    NumKills = 300
    Deviation = .028 = 2.8%

    FFXIOnline Test - TH2 + Knife
    NumDrops = 128
    NumKills = 300
    Deviation = .0286 = 2.86%

    My Test - TH2 only
    NumDrops = 152
    NumKills = 1,687
    Deviation = .00697 = .697%

    My Test - TH2 + Knife
    NumDrops = 133
    NumKills = 1,330
    Deviation = 159,201 = .0082 = .82%

    In other words, my results are accurate to plus or minus .697% and .82%, respectively, whereas the other poster's results are accurate to within 2.8% and 2.86% respectively. It may not seem like a lot, but it is. Add 2.8% to his TH2 only drop rate, and subtract 2.86% from his TH2 + knife drop rate, and the delta value decreases by almost 6%. Big difference.

    That being said, assuming he did say 3,000 tests in each case and had the same results, I would be inclined to believe that perhaps TH +X increased the drop rate by a percentage of its original drop rate. Like Drop rate x1.1 or something would seem to fit fairly closely with both my test and his test.

    I plan to continue killing with the Thief's Knife, because the formula I used for deviation kind of assumes you have the same number of samples under all variation of variables (for starters I need both sets of data to have exactly the same number of kills :D)

    Perhaps it would be a good idea to list the number of times a certain number of items dropped. Eg the number of fights with 0 drops, with 1 drop, with 2 drops etc. I wouldn't be surprised if TH works in two ways; increases the chances of drop by a certain % but also increases the chances of more than one drop by a certain %.

    I thought of that about halfway through my testing, but unfortunately I hadn't been recording that piece of information at that point, so I decided it woudl be pointless to start recording it. It happened rarely enough though that I think 2% of the time is probably about right, and 2% = 10% x 20%, which would fit with just "anything can drop, and all of it has X% chance".

    I know certain monsters have special patterns though, like certain HNMs only having 2 slots (example) for such and such type of item (e.g. 2 weapon / armor slots), and then other slots which can only hold some other type of item (e.g. item slots)

    I'm really inclined to believe the 1% thing since like everything else is 1% in the game. Triple attack +1 = 1%, Magic Defence bonus +1 = 1%, Magic Attack bonus +1 = 1%, and I'm pretty sure enmity -1 = 1% as well etc. BUT... I've seen an NM where TH1 changes a 40%ish drop into a 80%ish drop. So...

    Actually 1% isnt worth it at all for items like kraken, THf knife, and others that have a drop or around 1/1000. There is a reason a lot of people dont even bring thfs to these camps or why ninjas camp Sozu more then thfs... TH doesnt amount shit on these drops.

    well the job trait Treasure Hunter isn't an item with "Treasure Hunter +1", so its plausible that the job trait has a larger effect than knife and armets.

    you bring a thief if you can, but if it comes down to being able to claim and kill with your ninja vs not being able to claim and kill with your thief... the choice is obvious. You're not going to tell your only paladin online to come to thief to fafnir so ridill drops, same principle.

    Hmm.. To use your example, if the drop is 1/1000 (which it isn't, btw), and you add 1% to that, you're now at 1/91. I don't see how that could possibly be considered worthless lol.

    To be more realistic, let's say Kraken and Thief's Knife are both about 1/50 (which I actually think is very close to their true drop rate). Add 1% to that, and what's their new drop rate? About 1/33. Not as insane of a difference as 1/1000 + 1%, but still a huge difference.

    Fact - The lower the drop rate is, the more useful adding 1% to the drop rate is.

    how the hell did you get 1/91 from 1/1000 by adding 1%?...

    1/1000 = 0.1%

    1%+0.1% = 1.1% = 0.011

    1/91 = 0.011 (when rounded XD)

    it looks like you guys are basing it on 1% of the number 1, wouldn't it be 1% added to the current drop rate? so if it's .001 drop rate, increase it by 1% of itself being .00101? Correct me if I'm wrong please... I mean I did fail math this year ;-;
