What exactly do you mean by that? I can't envision DRK to be balanced and then suddenly it is. I don't have access to a Ridill or E. abjuration body, and chances are I won't be seeing DRK JSE anytime soon. I'm near my limits of what I could possibly do to improve DRK save getting more merit points, which still doesn't fix core problems.

DRKs are balanced, they're just not balanced the way YOU want. You want them to be a WAR or something. Guess what, if you want to play a WAR then go level it and stop whineing about a job theres nothing wrong with.

Oh, right, I must of been wrong all this time. Of course its balanced that two handed weapons do less in one attack round then dual wielded one handed weapons do in one attack round, and of course its balanced that dual wielded one handed weapons attack significantly faster while doing more damage every base round.

Of course it is balanced that souleater can never be taken full advantage of in xp parties, and of course its balanced that last resort is purely a gimped version of berserk in every single way.

Of course it is balanced that melees have little place in end game besides being subbed in for weapon skills.

Right, I must of been wrong all this time.

Anyone who tries to say that 2hand weapons are balanced obviously hasn't used one.

How many melee's are there? How the fuck else are they going to be useful. It's not like you are going to have one of every job in every alliance of every mob you fight in the game. Melee's job is DD. How do they do the most damage? WSs. What is a rdms job? Support? How do they help support? Refresh and haste etc.

You wanting drks to do other things other than WSs on HNMs is like wanting a rdm to stand there and nuke. It really is not the most productive thing that job could be doing.

Please do not cherry pick what you are going to respond to. If you are going to respond to my thread, please address everything I posted.

And in reference to what you posted, its that melee weapon skills are not even good enough on (the majority of) HNMs to really be wanted for damage. Melees are generally wanted for skillchains so black mages can burst. Maybe if there was a better method of TP gain for melees to use besides sleeping for it, or maybe if skillchain damage didn't suck horribly on every single HNM, then things may be a little different.

And even so, mages(summoners) still have the advantage over melees in usefulness on the CoP wyrms.

Everyone needs to be the exact same usefullness?
That's a good idea, let's get rid of jobs all together, and then lets make everyone wield the exact same weapons, and have the exact same skills, that will make things balanced.

Really, the only thing that needs to be adjusted is blm enmity during a nuke. You increase it, and suddenly blm are a lot less useful.

If you are going to reference exact same usefulness, welcome to melee end game. Why not meld all melees into one? You'd still have them used for pretty much the same use there is now(making skillchains for the BLMs to MB off of). And yes, everyone should be the exact same usefulness somehow, or at least all jobs that participate should play an important role in the fight.

Skewing my words around does not validate your argument, so please don't try it anymore.

A lot more needs to be adjusted then BLM. Increasing the enmity that BLM gets per nuke will solve little if anything, and more likely then not will just be detrimental.

If you have seen the blms on my server chaincast on Tiamat without getting hate, you would agree. They can kill Tiamat in almost 30 minutes because of it :X

So you somehow imagine that comparing a job trait effect (dual weild) on DPS to the DPS of a weapon unenhanced by a job trait is some sort of valid arguement? Thats about the stupidest thing I've heard and I read Killing Ifrit.

If you want berserk, again, level war. Or hell, sub-job it. Last Resort does different things including pull agro and is only PART of the DRK job, when WAR get Absorb-STR, stun, souleater, DRK attack up etc. etc. then you can compare them directly. Until then, Last Resort is a tool that decent DRKs use and use well. The fact that you can't even use souleater effectivly tells me you're playing the wrong damn job to begin with.

This isn't a DRK specific thing and not really on point. Yes, endgame melee usefulness needs to be fixed, but DRK have more of a place there because of their abilities than most other melee.

Once again you miss the point about melees and blms and the lack of balance. The point is that melees require TP to do their weaponskills, tp which comes from hitting monsters, which in turn gives them tp which hurts the alliance. Blackmages on the other hand simply whip 1500 dmg out of thinair at there choosing for minimal tp to the mob. The tp system, namely each hit giving a mob tp is broken, and until its fixed melees will always be worthless compared to mages.

Theres also the problem that a melee will hit their limit on being able to hit for more than 1 dmg on mobs a hell of a lot faster than a blm will hit their limit of getting fully resisted.

Nobody is asking for every job to be identical, your sarcasm is clearly not what people want. You can balance something without copy and pasting.

The arguming that a one handed weapon has far less delay per swing while having similar damage per hit isn't dependant on a job trait. I don't get your logic. My great katana on sam would hit an aura statue for about 100 damage. My axe and ridill on war hit for about 60-100 damage, far faster. 2 handed weapons are utterly broken in FFXI in terms of damage, dual wield has nothing to do with it...and I'm pretty sure you knew that.

Then maybe..... Sams should get something like GKT mastery, Drks, Scythe Mastery, etc which acts like Martial Arts/Dual wield

So because they finally learned their enmity limbo-line on tiamat, they need more enmity?

    Why?

You're on of those allakhazam posters who assume they know a job in an out when they've never touched it. Pray tell what are the benefits of DRK to suddenly increase my damage and not be considered one of the worst damage dealers?

So you somehow imagine that comparing a job trait effect (dual weild) on DPS to the DPS of a weapon unenhanced by a job trait is some sort of valid arguement? Thats about the stupidest thing I've heard and I read Killing Ifrit.
Yes it is a valid form of argument, since it is commonly used! Warrior subs ninja and gets dual wield, ninja has it as a main trait, monk comes with martial arts traits to speed up their attacks. If having ninja main or sub wasn't such a common occurance, then it wouldn't be a valid argument.

And you said it yourself, there are no job traits to enhance two handed weapons. This is very unfair to two handed weapon users.

Pray tell why would DRK want an enmity boost when they use last resort?

The absorb-line as a whole is pretty much useless for anything other then a self-buff. Considering warrior has a much better choice in WS gear then DRK does, they have it better in that aspect.

Stun....stun I agree is a nice spell for DRK. However, it isn't unique to DRK and more often then not DRK is just seen as stun-whores end game.

For souleater, it is not possible to take full advantage of it in xp parties due to the large enmity grab and hp reduction while in use. It isn't practical. You think that only good DRKs use it for the full minute duration? That is just bullshit and you have a very skewed vision of what a good(or in the case that you mentioned, dead) DRK is.

Last resort is a crap version of berserk in every way. It gives less of an attack boost, lasts for 30 seconds, and has an enmity spike! Saying that it should be like this 'so it doesn't copy warrior' is not a valid argument. Why have the job ability at all? The only use it has is to be used right before a weapon skill, which pales in comparison to the large increase in DoT and larger increase in WS damage that berserk gives.

This isn't a DRK specific thing and not really on point. Yes, endgame melee usefulness needs to be fixed, but DRK have more of a place there because of their abilities than most other melee.
I can stun once every 45 seconds! You can hardly imagine my excitement during HNM fights while I stare at the recast timer.

    For 75 levels apparantly.
Considering the crap you've spouted, I don't see why this statement has any validity as you don't seem to know the DRK job at all.
