This is just me, but WoW feels really similar to how Ultima Online felt to me. When I started playing, I thought to myself, this is UO w/ updated graphics and better endgame (read: any anygame outside of ganking and owning a home).

TBH..I still miss UO the most out of any mmo I've ever played. I still have an active account in the game, log on once in a while, etc. To me, no MMO has captured the experience like it did, dunno, too bad it sucks hardcore now.

How would you know? I never did anything in endgame but get free rides at dynamis because ninja are useless as tanks the way we fought (throw everyone at a select 1-2 mobs and KILL!)I'm not complaining about dynamis because it was alot of fun and i could DD what little I could, stay berserked, and eat attack food. That was fun. I also kited/tanked the shiz out of Kirin, but that was easy. Too bad for me Orfeo noticed his AF, suited up and took over. It was fun while it lasted though.

Also I didn't bother camping HNMs because it was boring and we never got claim anyways. However, you can ask my old LS and CoP group who rocked the house and was the preferred tank for our CoP missions. I'm sure you won't get any arguements there. Endo practically watched me grow up from some shy, sucky noob to someone who gave 100% and didn't complain once.

You wouldn't know if I had skill or not because I never got a real chance to demonstrate what I may or may not have. Whatever though dude... that's just your opinion.

I played UO for about 2years, and as much as I enjoyed it, short of playing with my brothers and close friends...it was pretty much a 1 player game. There was the PVP aspect but in reality all I ever did was things for myself, and things that involved solo or semi-solo aspects. The complete lack of a community, makes me only think thats all Ill be going to if I go to WoW, and I dont want that. If I want a well designed 1 Player RPG, or one that mirrors an MMORPG world, Ill play .hack or anything else.

In reality I left UO because it had nothing to hold me there any longer...without the people to come back to everyday, it lost its luster just like any 1player game will. Yes I was also on Atlantic server...name was Tristam Emrys. Doubt you remember me...as I hardly remember knowing 5 people in total the 2years i played the game.

FFXI is different. I'm not sure about other MMOs but with FFXI, it starts off as a game then the idea of it being a game is lost in the middle of all the drama and bullshit that inhabits the game. Then it feels like a chore for most people, and for others, it feels like work (because well, a good % of FFXI is actually working gilsellers lol :/).

yeah I agree. FFXI was fun when I first got it because it was a huge world, started with a friend and exploring was fun. Now I can teleport or OP to anywhere in 30seconds. The drama gets on you nerves especially on Ifrit... ppl were starting drama over Diablos...

FFXI: We all loved the game enough to take one or two or FIVE (Xavier ) jobs to 75. Some of our jobs were not high priority end game jobs, but we tried and even leveled other jobs to have fun with. We all wanted that "next" thing... Next level I can wear my (armor/weapon). Get that new spell. It was fun. Now it's a fking chore. We're competing with 3+ other linkshells to claim darters and if we're lucky, get a Fafnir or Nidhogg in hopes that this one FINALLY drops another fucking m. body or something. GG SE. People MPK you so you die so they can get claim. Gil-sellers get slapped on the wrists for whatever they do, but if a normal players does near anything they do (A tell to a JP player anyone?) we get perma-banned. The system is fucking broke.

Example: I was leveling BST with a friend in Onzozo. We're pulling the cockatrices and goblins for XP. Don't give two shits about the NM or even want to attempt it if it pops. (We both have earring anyway). A summoner shows up. He starts fighting a goblin then we watch this guy run around the room and the right through our tiny two BST PT... Well we get massively linked and die. I call a GM and I'm told "I have to send this to a JP GM since he's a Japanese player."..

Ever since that day, I've held some type of hatred towards this game. JP GMs flat out ban NA players, but when a JP player does something and let's even say an NA GM saw it... THEY WON'T DO JACK SHIT. They can't. I can't blame the GM for that.. Fucking SE treats their JP players like fucking royalty and the NA get shit on.

This game is built to harbor rivalries and drama and SE won't do shit about it. BG vs FI. Wabo vs Fortune. LS1 vs LS2. There will be MPKs, there will be cheap tricks. There will be HNMs stolen. And what will SE do? Notta. They'll just giggle and say fuck it.

WoW: Can't MPK anyone unless you go in to an instance... then you're just MPKing your raid/party and you deserve the bad name.

A few named spawn world map and a few equal to your nidhogg/fafnirs but there's an acceptable and plenty amount of instanced equipment to get that's really fucking good.

ALL JOBS ARE EQUALLY WANTED END GAME. Yeah, you can play a priest, druid, hunter, rogue, warrior, mage, warlock, whatever... They'll still want you in the raid. You won't get pushed aside because "lolz hez a drgoon lolz". If you're not wanted in raids, see above where I mentioned MPK in WoW... That probably was you and you now have a bad rep. Your fault and you can't blame anyone else.

The grind does get boring, but you can COMPLETELY solo from level 1 to 60 with ANY job.

... Take your pick. I know where I'll be.


Edit: The only thing I liked about FFXI over WoW. No need to create new characters for new jobs and nothing is really Bind on Equip so you can always sell it back.
