TBH..I still miss UO the most out of any mmo I've ever played. I still have an active account in the game, log on once in a while, etc. To me, no MMO has captured the experience like it did, dunno, too bad it sucks hardcore now.
I played UO for about 2years, and as much as I enjoyed it, short of playing with my brothers and close friends...it was pretty much a 1 player game. There was the PVP aspect but in reality all I ever did was things for myself, and things that involved solo or semi-solo aspects. The complete lack of a community, makes me only think thats all Ill be going to if I go to WoW, and I dont want that. If I want a well designed 1 Player RPG, or one that mirrors an MMORPG world, Ill play .hack or anything else.

In reality I left UO because it had nothing to hold me there any longer...without the people to come back to everyday, it lost its luster just like any 1player game will. Yes I was also on Atlantic server...name was Tristam Emrys. Doubt you remember me...as I hardly remember knowing 5 people in total the 2years i played the game.
We had vastly different experiences I guess, I was in a guild w/ 20 people, called them my friends, etc. The main difference in UO compared to FFXI was that UO was just an experience, you owned a house, you roamed the land w/ friends killing mobs, sometimes doing quests, etc. There was never a rush to get gear etc. When my friends slowly left the game, it did lose its appeal rapidly, but when I think about UO and FFXI, UO was a lot more fun to me.

You don't have to look far to find posts about me praising WoW endgame, but I just wanted to point out this is not completely true. WoW endgame guilds are looking for specific specs, given respecing your job is a lot more simple than leveling blm from 18, but it's true. Some guilds are more picky than others, some have seprate openings for damage spec wars and def spec wars, some are def spec only. did you know there is a dd spec preist, I asked my friend if he had one in his guild and he laughed. I'm just saying, it's true, but not true.

carbon, for those who havent significantly seen the world of mmo's outside of ffxi, whose experience is limited to a shoddy game made by devs without a clue, yes, the idea of an mmo is restricted to pain and suffering.

anyone, outside of attachment to money items people* and power within ff, who has experienced another successful and well designed mmo (incl but not limited to eq1, wow), is committing self-mutilation by continuing to play ff
You are entitled to your opinion Bert , however, it seems to me that you're indirectly accusing the people who still play FFXI of being idiots. Just because a large volume of players opted to remain in FFXI and not jump to WoW like sheep does not mean they are masochists. Is it really correct that 90% of bg membership jumped to WoW? I doubt it.

It seems to me that a large amount your discontentment with FFXI stemmed largely from the fact that you had exhausted all the content the game had to offer. Also, what makes you think that the forthcoming expansion will not fix any of the inherent problems in FFXI?

    I don't understand...

Why, when you get your IP address banned from a forum, do you feel the need to come back and still talk? It's obvious your opinion isn't wanted at all, even before you get banned.

Yeah there's a lot of people on these forums that like to act like they're in BG (even though they probably suck ass and could never get into BG, probably playing on different servers) and boss everyone around. They make themselves look real mature, too, especially with their choice of words.
