    Adventuring Fellow

I know there's a few people on here who are obsessed with their NPC besides just me, namely Septimus and Kuno, so I thought I'd ask.

Has anyone else proceeded through the Radiant Blessing quest? On the Alla thread, it says when you go to mine/harvest/etc that you have to have your NPC out in order to get the key item...is this 100% necessary? I'll be pissed if I have to waste 3 calls just to get these stupid items...

You have to have your NPC out to get the items. (Harvest in Giddeus, Log in Jugner, Mine in Shakarimi.) If you try, you will get a message that you need someone else to harvest/log/mine there, if you try again, you will get normal items. (No key item.)

I got a fresh Tactic Pearl on Saturday and have the quest flagged again for this week. I had a feeling I would need an extra 8 calls.

    I've looked around, it seems that no one has recieved the next quest yet. Zoldof is at level 60 hovering @1, so I really want to find the next Genkai quest. ;_;

Someone speculated that the quests that increase your bond are like genkai quests for # of calls. Only way to really test this would be for two people that have npc's capped @60 (and are also presumably capped at the # of calls). Have one person complete the quest, and the other person doesn't. Have each one call their npc the same number of times and see if the person that did the quest gets new weapon upgrades/head options and the other person doesn't.

Anyways, best bet is to do the quest and call your npc as often as possible and hopefully someone will get the next quest

My npc is level 60, and is one of the only reasons i keep playing
Im excited for all the changes they have for the NPC fellow, and if we are all lucky one day maybe they will make the cap LV70.

At some point, decent mobs for XPing NPC's will become more and more difficult to "solo," and you'll end up with a party of 3 PC's and 3 NPC's trying to get those NPC's to level 75. That will be nice, XPing your NPC and levelling up yourself for merits and/or XP at the same time.

Question, though. Once you get your NPC to 75, what's the point? You can't have a party of 6 PC's and 6 NPC's in a BC. You can't have 18 and 18 to make an alliance fight easier. Perhaps they'll add new BC's that are solo or 3-person capped where you can call NPC's?

I'm having fun levelling my NPC, too, although I started a bit late (level 38 currently). I'm just kind of curious what their long term plans for this feature are.

For certain the NPC cap has been raised to 65 in this update, but people are hoping for 70 cap. (I fund that unlikely.) People have been speculating about NPC parties since the last update since a lot of jobs have a hard time killing the mobs your NPC needs to level on to get from 50 to 60. They supposedly changed it so you can alliance 2 parties with 3 people in each to have 6 NPCs out, which would make leveling to 75 a lot easier and faster. (If you can actually find 5 other NPC enthusiasts.)

Once your NPC is 75? No one knows. I had Zoldof help out with a WSNM last night, he did a respectable job as a level 60. I have called on Zoldof to fill in for missing party members in the past, he did really well since he had capped stats. The NPC storyline talks about Aht Urhgan quite a bit, there is a fair chance that NPCs may be very useful since a lot of the content is supposed to be solo.

The following changes have been made to the Fellowship system:

-Several quests that raise the level limit, etc. of your adventuring fellow have been added.

Sounds like there are multiple level cap quests. But it's possible the cap quests only raise the NPCs level by 1 or something...

or there are prereq quests you have to do before you can do the genkai quest.

more jobs would be able to solo more effectively, imagine any melee with a Lv 75 Healing NPC that does Haste and Cure V.

or a WHM that has a melee NPC that can do 500+ WS.

Leveling NPC after 65 is going to be a bitch.

I suppose one advantage of how an NPC gains XP independently of the PC's level is that you could have NPC's of level 74, 72, and 56 in a party and they would all get similar XP, so not all of the PC's would have to be at the same level in developing their NPC. Of course, that level 56 wouldn't help a lot against most mobs that help level 75's for XP. Avoiding AoE death would take a particularly careful mob selection (weapons in sky? No thanks). They had better add some new levelling areas for those high levels with the new expansion, or there will be even more problems than there already are with limited camps for merit point and 73+ parties.

As a side note, is there any way to get an NPC that's a healer-type to NOT melee? I usually have XP'ed with her with my RDM, so I have her on damage dealer.

That would be brilliant. If SE is smart (insert joke here), they'll put some form of limiting factor on the number of people who can easily unlock a job right when it comes out. Otherwise, you're bound to see 300 Blue Mages, Dancers & Pirates (or whatever) looking for party in Valkurm Dunes in the first week after release. Tying it to NPC's, Norg fame, completed ZM, CoP or ToAU missions would certainly provide a means for reducing the rush.

If you have to have a level 70 or higher NPC to unlock Blue Mage, I would be the happiest bastard in the world.

Screw Blue Mage. Dancer. You preform erotic dances on your NPC and he kills monster with his errection. SE will call it Spirit Serge II.

Square couldn't put anything like that in the game. I would simply die.

I was hoping for stricter requirements on obtaining Diabolos, as there was with Fenrir. Instead, they whored him out to anybody who takes a trip to windurst and talkes to Kerutoto.

I have a bad feeling they'll do the same thing with Blue Mage, and just have some NPC somewhere you talk to and you have the quest with little to no requirement other than something most people will have already done by then anyway.
